My uncle left my hoveround
Angel the charger light should only turn green when the chair is fully charged. If you know the chair isn't fully charged then there is a problem with the charging system. if the circuit board in the joystick got wet then that is a serious problem. If you have a voltmeter you can check the battery voltage thru the charging port located under the front of your joystick Set the meter to 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the 2 outter holes of the charger port. Fully charged you should read 27-30 volts if you aren't getting any reading then the batteries are completly dead or there is a problem with the charging circuit (the reason you are getting a green light on the charger) The joystick will have to be replaced sorry If Medicare paid for your chair then they will pay 80% of the repair costs to get your chair working again If they did contact Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 to get it fixed thru Medicare Hope this helps
The operator of the chair
Check the freewheel levers in the front of the chair to make sure both are in the drive mode. If they are in drive mode and you are still getting the error then there was damage done to the brake on the motor that the cord got wrapped around and it will have to be replaced Sorry Hope this helps
My MVP5 when I'm going
You have a loose connect or a fault component in a circuit board. This is a medical device and should either be covered by the manufacturer or, if too old, you may br eligible for a new unit through your insurance company.
Please contact the manufacturer for a service call. It is not a Do It yourself project. If under warrantee, you can run into issues with invalidating warrantee or if your insurance company is still paying a lease on it (as durable medical equipment) you can run into problems with them by trying to Do it yourself.
Finally, if you do open it up and work on it yourself, the manufacturer has very little liability if it suddenly turns left and throws you down a set of stairs. leave it to the pros and let them document the repairs and work it through the insurance system as appropriate.
Good luck
My chair shows a full
sound like a bad battery or charger or even could be a short in the chairs controller.. try the battery first. i hope this helps
I bought an MPV5 used.
Lets solve this, one question at a time ....
First your batteries are not charging,This may be because of it siting for too long without a charge. The batteries may be so dead that your charger cannot reconize them. dont losse hope there are ways to check your batteries and charger with out spending alot of money on a tech coming over.
1) Unplug and remove your batteries from the chair
2) Find your self a charge that trickle charge
(Note: If you have a batterie charger ,trickle charge is the lowest set charge)
3) Trickle charge each batterie to about 50%
4) Install batteries back on to chair
5) Plug in chair charger
The chairs charger should come on ,and that right there tells you that you have a good charger!
The batteries that came with this chair are not bad and are considered ok to use .These type of batteries are what you call maintenance batteries ,which your always having to check if the leaking or need water. The gell type batteries are what they call non-maintenance.That you dont have to always look after but are more money.Thats why they recommend the gells so that the user doesn't have to work on there chair.
I hope that was helpful ,Happy Riding
My Hoveround MPV5 batteries will not charge, do
If you plug the charger into the wall, turn on the power switch and the light comes on, the charger should be working properly. Here is a way to test it-
Attach the charger that came with the power chair to the power chair controller firmly and turn the power chair on, while the charger is running. What should happen:the lights on the controller will scroll back and forth. If this does NOT happen and you can confirm the charger is turned on, the charger handle is fully seated inside the controller receptacle and the wall outlet has power, then the charger may have a problem and needs to be replaced.
If the charger is OK, then there may be a problem with the batteries. Here are some sypmtoms:
1-You connect the charger but the light on the charger never goes red, it just stays green.
2-You connect the charger but the light goes from red to green VERY fast.
3-The charger light goes from red to green but when you disconnect the charger and press the power button on the controller, you only have one flashing red light, or the batteries drain within just a few minutes of use.
4-The power chair has been stored or sitting idle for several months.
5- The power chair has been connected to the charger 24-7 for several months.
Any of the above examples indicates that the batteries are oxidized or damaged and will most likely need to be replaced. The MPV5 takes two, U1 12 volt 33 amp batteries which can be purchased at any battery warehouse store like Interstate Batteries or Batteries Plus.
Good luck!
Hello, changed a flat
Check the freewheel lever in the front of your chair If it is freewheel then thats the cause of the lights flashing other than that you don't give too much more info to be able to answer your problem Hope this helps
We have a hoverround that
Rev you would have to locate the provider that delivered the chair and ask if they can reprogram the chair for you. I don't remember the type of joystick the MPV 5 uses so I don't know what type of programmer would be needed to fix the upper speed setting. They could also check the batteries cause if they are 2-3 years old they could be a cause of the slower speed Hope this helps
My hoveround light flash and then goes off wont
The number of lights that are flashing will indicate what the problem is related to.
You can visit this website to find answers on what the flashing trouble indicator lights mean:
http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
Locate the page that has the controller used on your power chair/scooter and count how many lights are flashing to diagnose the trouble. Try resetting your brakes to see if that will help reset the system (makre sure the power chair is turned off first.) If your insurance purchased the power chair for you, they may also cover the repairs; contact Hoveround for an appointment.
Good luck!
My right front wheel is "locked" and unable to
Seth first push the freewheel lever for you right motor to freewheel to see if it move if you can turn the wheel in freewheel then the gearbox is not frozen. But even if you can get it in freewheel then the problem of not getting the motor to run when you engage the joystick is a bigger problem I'm afraid the only fix is to replace the motor/gearbox assembly. Now if medicare paid for your chair then they will pay 80% of the repair cost. Contact the provider that sold you your chair and ask if they can repair it. If not contact Repair Express @1-877-581-373 or Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-88-467-2668 to have the chair fixed Hope this helps you
The chair won't power on and the batteries won't
After you changed the batteries, did the power chair sit unused for several weeks? It sounds more like a battery or fuse issue than a charger issue. If there are blinking lights when you try to turn the power chair on (not while attached to the charger), or it comes on then goes back off by itself quickly, there may be something else going on.
1- The green light on the charger is telling you that the batteries are not accepting any more power, either they are fully charged or they have oxidized/gone solid from sitting without being put on the charger for too long.
2-The scrolling lights on the controller when the charger is plugged in just confirms that the chair is connected to the charger, so it sounds like everything is connected properly and working. The horn will work fine when it is attached to the charger as it is getting power from the wall outlet.
3- If it was a fuse issue, the lights would not come on at all when the charger is NOT attached, even after the battery has been fully charged, which is what it sounds like is going on. The fuses can blow if you operate the chair on a slick surface or one of the drive tires spin out. The batteries will be fully charged but because the circuit is not complete, the chair will not power on.
I recommend checking the fuses and changing them if necessary. You are in luck because this is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix as they are standard automotive fuses found at any auto parts store or even Walmart for around $2 each (you need 2). The fuses are located inside the gray battery covers under the seat, attached to the leads connected to the battery cables. The straps holding the covers on the batteries are tight, you may want to use a flat head screwdriver to help release the clips. While you are down there, inspect the tread on the tires, if it is worn or slick it may need to be replaced for safety.
I hope this information is helpful to you- good luck!

My mpv5 power indicator says
Nothing against hove-round ,but to me it sounds like the problem may be do to a bad cell in one the the two battery's .This will cause an uneven charge which will be a result of the problem that you are having now. Also make sure the two battery's are new, they should have markers on them that say the month and year. Also make sure that your charger is working .when you plug that chair in ,turn it on see if it will move and see if the light are flashing.that will let you know if its reading that its being charged.
when you find the bad battery and replace it and its saying its fully charged and it does this to you again. The last thing it could be .is your motors are going bad the breaks are over loading the power.
Good luck hope i was of some help.
No power
1- Make sure that your batteries are fully charged and that they have not gone bad from sitting unused for a long time.
2- If the batteries are less than 2 years old and have been on the charger for at least 8 hours but the power chair will not power on when the charger is disconnected, you may be have blown a fuse. They are standard automotive fuses and are located inside the battery covers under the seat.
3-
If you have checked on both 1 and 2 and still have issues or have blinking lights on the controller,
here is a link with descriptions of the flashing controller lights for
most power wheel chair controllers. This will allow you a fast diagnosis
to save time and money on your repair; it may be as simple as a brake
reset instead of a costly motor replacement! The first page you will see
is especially for Hoverounds, but you might be able to find other
brands if you know the manufacturer of the controller.

My Hoveround mpv5 will not turn on charger states
It sounds like the batteries have gone bad and need to be replaced.
The batteries contain a gel that needs to have current run through it on a regular basis (at least 8 hours once a week) or it will solidify. If you attach the charger, what will most likely happen is the green light will either stay green or go to green after a very short time. When you turn on the power chair, nothing happens. The charger will indicate the batteries are full, but instead of being full of pwer, they are full of crud. Your warranty will most likely not cover replacment as this is due to customer neglect, but your insurance may still cover the replacement if you can wait for the process to go through. Otherwise, you will need to replace the batteries on your own, type U1, 24v 33 amp, found at Batteries Plus, Insterstate Battery or any other battery warehouse for $75-120 each.
To replace the batteries:
Remove the black power cords behind the battery covers by squeezing the plastic pinch clip. Remove the cover carefully by unhooking the black webbing strap so that you do not yank any of the leads. Using a 7/16" wrench loosen the bolts that attach the leads to the posts, be careful if there is any corrosion that may irritate your skin. Check the fuses to make sure they are still good; if not they are regular automotive fuses that are inexpensive and can be found at any auto parts store. Remove the plastic caps or any packaging from the new battery posts and seat the batteries on the tray, connect the leads to the posts as indicated and tighten with the wrench. Place the batteries back ont he tray, reconnect the power cord, Replace the covers, and tighten the straps.
You may want to use the power chair until the battery is used up before you charge it fully for 8-12 hours; this will ensure that the battery gets FULLY cycled and any buildup inside the battery from it sitting on the shelf in the store is burned out. Make sure that you charge the power chair after a full day's use for 8-12 hours (overnight), not after every trip as overcharging can cause damage. If the power chair in not going to be used for a while, continue to charge the batteries at least one day a week to keep the batteries fluid.
Return your used batteries to the battery store or auto parts store for proper disposal. Good luck!
Hoveround operates only in circles
You may either have have a bad motor on one side or one of the keylocks/keystops holding the wheel on the axle has broken. Check to make sure that both of the manual brake levers are in the UP position (inside the opening above the footrest, between the rider's ankles).
If it is a motor that needs to be replaced, they run around $600 plus labor, you will need to contact Hoveround to register the power chair with the serial number (found inside the manual brake opening above the footrest) and make an appointment for service.
If it is a keystock, they can be mailed to you from Hoveround for just a few dollars, sometimes for free if there happen to be some laying around the call center.
Have someone watch you operate the chair, or tip it backwards to raise the drive tires up so you can see if both axles are turning or not. If one axle is NOT turning, you have either a blown motor or possibly a connection to the junction box has come loose, which would be indicated by blinking lights on the controller. If both axles are turning and no lights are blinking, then most likely the key stock has broken and the drive tire just cannot lock on and get a grip.
I hope this information is helpful, good luck!
Hooveround cv5 two years old.
seeelsie Check the charger's fuse located on the front of the case. If you don't see one then you might have to take it apart to see if there is a fuse inside the charger. Check it to make sure it hasn't blown. If you are getting no lights when you plug it into the wall outlet (at least the red light should be lit) if not and you can't find a fuse then you will have to replace the charger. Maybe you know someone with a chair that has an external charger you could borrow for a few hours to charge your chair until you can get one. any external or offboard charger will work so look around for the best deal. Hope this helps
