Saw will not start, excessive amount of gas coming out the exhaus
The Vitan seat you talk about is not a seat at all. It is the soft tip at the end of the needle. Make sure your hi and low speed jets are 1 1/2 turns open. and try again. If problem persists check for piston scarring by removing the muffler and looking into the exhaust port.
Craftsman 358.352070-14 chain saw start problem
You could try and prime the carburetor and start the saw. If the saw starts for a short while, but dies, than it probably isn't getting fuel into the carburetor, which means that the carburetor either needs to have a rebuilt kit installed, or adjusted or both. This could especially be true if the saw has been around for a while and used quite a bit.
The filter in the tank usually doesn't go bad, but it doesn't hurt to replace it. Usually it is obvious when they are dirty and need to be replaced.
Spark plug gap
hi kathy. this is an easy one. first of all you will need a spark plug gapping tool, about a dollar at any auto parts store. Your chain saw most likely calls for PLUG TYPE: Champion CJ6 SPARK PLUG GAP: 0.025 in. (0.63 mm).

You should have 2 lined coming from tank. A return and feed. Normally the return is the lowest positioned outlet on the carb, and the feed is at the top. When pumping the purge bulb take the gas cap off tank, and you should see fuel being returned to the tank from the return line. If not, switch the lines on carb. If still not returning fuel to the tank, you will need to pull the carb and inspect the metering and fuel pump diaphrams.
