I am replacing an input jack on Dean ML. However, the old one was not there and I need to know which wire is positive and which is negative. There is a clear coated wire and a silver white coated w

With standard color coding of wiring, the clear coated should be the negative ground. However, this is not always a guaranteed bet. If you just want the pickup polarity, use a meter on ohms or continuity and test each wire to the pickup body, presuming the body is metal. The body should be ground. Otherwise try http://guitarelectronics.com/guitar-wiring-resources/ or pininterest.com or ultimateguitar.com which have detailed wiring sketches of many pickups and associated wiring.

I have gotten an amp for my guitar..It worked fine the first 2 day...when I went back to it today...it was not working...could it be my guitar?

Hi Deb: A couple of ways to check: 1) Plug your guitar into a different amp and see if it works. 2) Plug a different guitar into your amp and see if it works. 3) Try your guitar on your amp but use a different cord. I'd be betting that the nearest music/instrument store would be quite happy to check your equipment for you, and most reasonably experienced musicians would likely volunteer to help. I know I would if you were my neighbor. Cheers.

Peavey cs1000 x

The most likely case is that one of the main output transistors (if which there are many) is shorted. When the protect circuit senses DC on the final output, it will not allow the output relay to come on to protect the speakers from raw DC. With the power removed, you can check between each outputs Emitter and Collector and you will probably find close to zero ohms. From that point you need to unsolder each of the pins of the bad channel until you find the shorted device(s) and replace them.
