Ryobi 31cc , 17inch weed ,hard to start ,needs to stay choked to

I got on here to find the solution for the same problem. This seems to be fairly common. I need to have it at 3/4 choke to run properly. Other posts say the exact same thing, about the 3/4 choke. It is apparenly something that breaks occationally.

I'm going to remove the carb and take it apart. My suspection is the diaphram in the bottom of the carb. There isn't much you can do with the carb, it is very simple and has few parts.

There is a chance that it is a blocked passageway also.

There are instructions for adjusting the mixture, but they are not clear enough. I will be posting a clarification reqest on one of those posts. Will also post again after I check the diaphram.

Ryobi mdl RY 26921, the

The main fuel line from the tank that has the filter in the tank on the end of it will connect to the brass nipple near the bottom of the carb. The top nipple by the bulb is the return line and just sends air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. So, fuel supply line is connected on the OTHER end of the carb.

SS30 Trimmer dies when you squeeze the throttle.

First make sure it is warmed up first. A good way of letting it warm up is to feather the throttle for a while until you can hold the throttle all the way down and let it run full speed for 1 minute. Then try a regular use. If it still acts the same, then I suggest removing the carb and completely clean it out.

I have a petrol brush cutter. The primer button

You need a primer bulb for a WalBro Carb. I am from the U.S. so I can't give you the name of your local dealer, but here is the information you need.
If you have a small engine repair shop nearby they may have one in stock or can order it. If you do not have a good repair shop in your are, go to Amazon.com and search for " 2 cycle primer bulb" to see pictures and figure out the correct one.
Arnold (MTD) has this part number Arnold 490-239-0001
Stens (another big parts distributor) has this part number
Primer Bulb WALBRO/188-12-1
If your primer bulb is separate from the carb here is the WALBRO/188-512-1 part.

I have a Ryobi SS30 string trimmer with the

One thing that I have found about 2 cycle engines is that to leave fuel in them over the winter months is asking for trouble, even if they have stabil in them. The reason for this is the alcohol that the government mandates for all gasoline. That alcohol is very hydroscopic and sucks water ito the mixture creating a goo that blocks the needle valve in the carburator, as well as seals the little flapper valves that allow fuel flow. it also blocks the strainer in the tankblocking fuel flow. You can first try this. Remove all of the fuel from the tank. take the top off of the carb and spray a generous amount of carb cleaner down in the top of the carb. replace the top of the carb. Refill the tank with a new mixture of oil and gas (don't use gas that has sat longer than 3 months.) Add a little bit of SeaFoam or any other additive to the mixture. Start/Try and run the machine untill all the fuel has burned off in the machine. refillagain and see if it did any good. If not then you may have to clean the carb and replace the flappers in the carb, as well as fish the strainer out of the tank and clean it. That alcohol sure causes a mess. When you store the machine for the winter, burn off all of the fuel and let the machine be empty for the winter.
