Ryobi problems
Sorry not to have better news. The plastic housing on that trimmer is not strong enough to support the drive gears. Ryobi has discontinued that model.
I have had mine apart several times. The housing for the gear cogs is plastic and flexes. I've tried to reinforce it and added spacers between the plastic housing and the bearings that support the drive shafts in attempt to force the teeth together. But the trick only lasts for a few minutes. As soon as I start to cut with it, it stops again. It's just not worth the time, effort and frustration to continue working on it just to have it stop working again.
I finally discarded the Ryobi unit and purchased one with a metal (aluminum) housing. I think it is a Poulan Pro model from Walmart. It has worked well.

My edger attachment won't come
Not too sure of this model, have you tried to spray a "good" loosening fluid, where it is supposed to come off, TAP lightly!!! with a small hammer,LEAVE OVER NIGHT!! try to see if it releases,if not Repeat spray procedure, leave overnight and try again,if you don't have success, let me know,is this a petrol or electric model?? By the way did the machine get wet, when you then stored it away,if so the "good loosening spray" should loosen any rust/gunge that may have occoured, but let me know, rgds benji123

Has a hold in fuel tank
Hi Kenneth,
There is a solid epoxy sold at auto parts store specifically made to seal fuel tanks in vehicles. It starts as a solid (like clay), you knead it for a bit and plug the hole with it.
As it cures it expands slightly making a perfect seal.
Quick, easy and best of all: inexpensive.
Best regards,
Mike
