Natural gas does not come in canisters for residential or commercial use. Unless the manufacture makes a conversion kit from Natural gas to LP gas, and you perform this conversion, do not use the range. The gas is not burning properly, and is omitting high levels of carbon monoxide!

Hi, sounds like you could have an obstruction. Check the entire stack for bird nesting materials or debris. The propane, when it burns, should not produce any soot. My guess is that something else is burning in your chimney stack and if it is blocked, it will come into you room. Once you remove the debris, you should attach some wire mesh around the exit to avoid any heat seeking animals from nesting again.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Did you take the pilot assembly apart and blow it out like with canned air for a computer keyboard???
The other problem with many of those units is that they have an O2 senosr and if the O2 in the room gets depleted they will shut down...
If you are running one of those units you should have a window cracked to allow fresh air in... try letting a window open an inch or so and see if it solves your problem...

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly
You do not even have to turn off the gas to the stove to change the thermocouple.
It is a matter of unthreading the fitting from the gas valve and routing the new thermocuple in the same matter as the old one. There usually are 2 -3 mounting screws for the thermocouple head. Remove the screws and install the new thermocuple head in the same place as the old one.
Before you screw the new thermocouple into the gas valve make sure the mating area inside the gas valve is clean then thread the thermocouple fitting into the gas valve.
Sometimes the igniter is also mounted on the same bracket as the thermocouple just be careful not to damage it if yours is installed in the same manner.
It should not take more than 20 minutes......
That is it.... simple as that.
Thanks for using FixYa
