The foam instulation in my hot tub cover broke from heavy water

Pretty hard to repair. If the outer shell is intact, just use it. You may open the cover and take the foam out, duct tape it and reinstall. Other than that, you have to buy a new one. Good luck...Lee

What does FL mean on my hot tub??

FL could be a code for low flow. If you have no circulation this sounds like it. If your pump runs and you have no flow you could have a problem with your pump. Or if you have the tub drained then it could be an air lock, if you open the drain valve till you get water out that should fix that. Also check to be sure the isolation valves are open under the spa. I hope this helps.

Why does the spa trip the gfci when I turn the jets on high?

You need to make sure that it is a real GFCI and not a spark detection fault interrupter. When the pump is turned all the way up it may be causing a large spark that the SGCFI is detecting. If it is not that then there is a parasitic floating fault that is causing the issue.

I have this pump modelpf-40-2n22c cam i chang it out for this model numbert55cxcas-1179

If the water flow according to each pumps spec's match up and the plumbing lines up, with little or no modification, then all is good. but... remember this, if the water flow does (GPM's) not matchup, you will ever overdrive your hydraulics system causing premature leaking, or if undersized, your jet action will be diminished! you can find this information by obtaining the "Pump Curve" chart from each pump manufacturer. btw... The numbers you provided don't help much. Make and model name of each pump??
