Change the batteries and make sure there is no acid residue on the ends of the scale.

The middle part slides out.

There are openings on two sides. One side has a larger opening than the other.

Once you gently slide it out, you'll see the two batteries. Make sure the positive side is facing up when you put them back in.

Just firmly push in on the tab that's on the side with the smaller opening.

What you'll be doing is pushing it through, kind of like a little "tray" for the batteries.

You'll see it'll slide out and expose the batteries so you can replace them.

By the way, it takes two size 2032 lithium 3v batteries.

make sure the battery your getting is a good one longlastig and if that doesnt work then how nout the motor

Probably the sensor is damaged and time to replace the scales unless it is still under the manufacturers warranty, in which case, return it for service.

See if you can find the manual for your model. It sounds like you have a British model and not one that has US units. http://www.manualsdir.com/brands/salter/41.html

Hold the two arrow and set buttons together for a few seconds and it may clear.
