Since a steamer is a steamer, try the following suggestions:

White rice: 1 cup to 2 cups water for 45-50 minutes.
Brown rice: 1 cup to 1.5 cups water for 45-50 minutes.

I ran into the same problem locating this manual. Black and Decker has the manual for the 3 cup on their site but not the 6 cup. I did find a manual for the Rival brand version which appears to be the same thing. You can find it at the URL

It is always better to go for 2:1 ratio. (water : rice) , this will help the rice to be silky and soft especially if you are using Basmati rice. For the other types, it is most generally better to go with 1:1. Also, it is better to soak rice for bout 30 minutes before cooking it, it will help in faster cooking saving some valuable electricity units.

not sure about that measuring cup thing. just use 1 part rice to 2 parts liquid and you'll be fine

For Jasmine rice, we use 1.5 C dry unwashed rice to 2.5C cold water.

For Japanese short grain sushi rice which needs washing, we use 2C dry rice, wash and drain it, than add 2.5 C cold water and let soak for 10 minutes, than cook.

For brown rice, we use a 2:1 ratio, water to rice, with 20 minutes soak time.

Hi,
There is a sensor that regulates how hot the cooker gets and shuts it down to the warm setting when it senses that the heat is too high...meaning that all the water has cooked off....my guess is that the sensor failed and as far as I know it is not replaceable.

That way they can send someone out to your hour to check where you've attempting to install the handle. Or you might be able to email them the photos for the replacement area for faster results. Either the inner pan is not seated deep enough, or the bushing where the paddle comes through the pan has raised up a bit. Support - Parts for replacement parts on the Black and Decker website.
