Bosch Exxcel 1200 (WF02464GB) not heating

The machine only heats when it takes the detergent, all three rinses are cold only and this time of year the load will be very cold when it comes out. If the machine is not taking extra time (like a hour or two) longer to run a cycle, then there is no problem. If you want to check the heater is functioning, try this1 Put the dial to off2 press and hole the start button whilst turning the dial one click to left (easycare 30)3 release start and either two of the progression lights are lit or if it has a diplay should show 8.88 or 0.004 turn dial to 90 cotton, take the the long way round ie not thro the off or you will have to start again5 press start6 drum will fill and the heater will come on, wait a few minutes and if the heater is working ok you will hear a noise like a kettle boiling. The drum does not turn during the test to allow you to hear this without the movement of the drum obscuring the sound. If it sounds ok, cool. put dial to off, wait a second then select drain to get rid of the water in the drumAll the best

Bosch exxcel washing machine not heating water

Are you sure it's not heating the water? The only time it heats is when it takes the detergent, all rinses are in cold water only. To test the heater, put the dial to the OFF position, press and hold the start button whilst turning the dial one click to left (30 easycare) when the two middle lights come on or 888 in display (if there's a display), take your finger off the start, turn the dial to 90 cotton (the long way, counterclockwise, not thro the OFF) press start, the tub will fill and it will do a stationary heat, you should hear the element/water making a noise like a kettle boiling. Leave the machine like this for a few minutes. Put dial to off until the door lock disengages and touch the water to see if it's warm. Put the machine on drain to clear water. If there is defo no heat repost and I will give you step by step of changing element.Cheers Roni

Will not fill with water

Sounds a bit obvious but have you checked isolation tap is on?? Sometimes if the tap is the small plastic type (red or blue) the plastic can break and although the tap looks like its in the on position the valve underneath is off, remove the plastic tap (should be a small screw holding it to valve) check the rectangular valve underneath is in line with the pipe, if not use a pair of pliers to turn on. If the problem is with one of the valves on the machine itself, try a cold cycle, rinse or prewash to see if it fills on a different cycle.

F61 code door won't open

Error E61 is generated when the door is locked but open.

Switch the appliance off.

After 5 minutes, use a thin screwdriver to push the lock to the right and then release it.

Restore the power, close the door and try the machine on a spin programme.

If you are still having trouble after this, let me know what actually happens when you try to use the appliance. The more detail you give the better.

Hope this helps

Let me know how it goes or if you need more help.

Got error code F18

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Bosch's 'F18' refers to a blocked filter.
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Have a Bosch washing

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This sounds very much like the motor IS failing. Following are my pre-typed general guidance notes and include a comment about changing brushes- sorry!
Motors- and belts, which is sensible to change at the same time- are easy to be changed by a competent person:-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND REMOVE THE BACK.
The motor support bolts, normally 2, should be loosened and the belt removed then remove the bolts completely
With the motor it is false economy to just have the brushes changed. Experience of others is that the brushes may only last months unless, that is, the motor is totally refurbished. Refurbishing includes skimming the commutator on which the brushes run. Without skimming the brushes do not sit firmly on the commutator but straddle it- the centre is often more worn than the outer part.
Unfortunately motors are not cheap- the motor for our 18+ yearold Bosch cost GBP250 but it will probably outlive us!
Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT. THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,
John C

Someone cross threaded the drain plug in our WFO

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Are you sure it is cross-treaded or just plain gummed up? If it is cross-threaded there is only one way to remove it- with force! Otherwise- suggestions ;- pour anticalc/limescale fluid into any gap there is around the cap. Empty the machine and you can switch it off providing the door is open! Then pour the contents of at least 2 sachets of proprietary anticalc powder/liquid into the drum direct together with a kettle full of boiling water. Leave overnight at the very least. The following day run just a spin cycle as then there will be no water diluting the mix. This mix will go through the filter and motor and is likely to help release the filter/cap. If you feel like it, do the overnight again. If nothing else it will ensure that the heater element is clean!
I had to spend a couple of hours gently turning the cap back and forth until it finally released its hold- but the filter did not remain attached to the cap by its rubber ring. More patience, anticalc fluid and all was revealed!
I now run an anticalc clean regularly............which reminds me..............!
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Bosch Exxcel 1400 Express -

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry but I do not know your particular machine even though we have a Bosch. I would suggest, however, as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.

It could be that the washing cycle water is not draining away either because there is a blockage in the filter or the drain motor is malfuctioning.
