Problem. Should be a warranty repair or replace. Don't try to fix it, you'll void the warranty if you crack the handle open to look.

I would say it has stripped a gear and it jammed up. If this has happened , it would be cheaper buying a new drill. Try using a pair of multigrips to force the chuck around. If you get it free and the drill runs again, it could have just "jumped a tooth" and may be OK. If it crunches and locks up again, its rubbish bin time.

can you turn the armeture? If not you may have a frosen bearing

The charger input voltage should make no difference on the output voltage / current, if they are designed to run on that input particular voltage. A 240 volt charger will not work on 110 volt and vice versa. If in doubt check the output voltage of the charger with a voltmeter. Make sure you are getting around 20 volts dc.

possibly could be a speed controller problem in the switch depending on the age , could be brushes problem

the 'plug' was a screw-in cap to hold the copper end of the brush to the armature. you need to order new ones from makita.
