Hi, Don't stress, its working fine. The grinder has a sort of self test when you put the battery in, it blinks. What you don't want is the light to come on when you are using it. That means that you are bogging it down and if on for 30 seconds ( if I remember right) it will shut the grinder off until you reset it by turning it off and then on again. So no worries!

No, the charger has its own serial number, the only serial is on the tool itself.

It sounds as thought you have a keyless chuck on your drill. The cover is not meant to come off. You will have to replace the chuck.

just remove the controller, unplug the thin red wire from switch, unplug white plug for leds, cut both black wires and both red wires from controller unit.remove controller unit. then connect red wire from switch to red wire from were battery connects, do the same for the black wire. overload protection now removed, be careful if switch is in the on position when you connect battery grinder starts!!!

If the problem is corrosion from salt exposure (if you let it sit for a while without cleaning, it probably is), you might try removing the battery just to be on the safe side, and then using a high quality penetrating oil on the chuck itself. I've had really good luck with a brand called Kroil, which comes in an orange can, and is available in both bulk and aerosol cans. Soak the chuck liberally, but don't get oil into the electronics or electrical components. Then let it sit for a few hours and see if it works. It may require a few applications. I don't really know how a chuck works. I use them often on a drill press, cordless drills, etc. My grandfather always said to "check the simple things first." Could something have gotten in the way like saw dust, dirt.....? ? I might suggest trying using compressed air and blow it out? You can buy a can of compressed air at office depot.

Hi. Just to clarify, it is a rotary hammer drill, not an impact drill? In most cases those machines put out 3 joules of energy on the back of the drill bit. If it was a cheap bit, the hammer action "mushrooms" the end of the bit making it difficult to remove. You could try to force it out using a bench vise, but you could damage the chuck.

I think this radio uses two different sets of batteries. There is the smaller batteries that store preset radio stations and a larger battery pack to power the actual radio. If your partner had other Makita cordless tools some of those batteries will fit and there will be a charger for them. I've put a link to a website for a users manual. (try looking at page 3. The larger battery will be a black block which is the same type used for the cordless tools. The squarer battery pack style should slide upwards towards the handle and the rounder shape battery packs should just pull out.
