Can I use my old Ryobi charger (#1423701) to charge my new Ryobi LITHIUM battery?

If the old charger has a deep-uncharge-protection contact and was also made for Li-ION ther is in any case a marketing technical design by a notch to protect the battery to place on the charger if this cells are not correct. (this answer applies to all brands with a quality mark)

I can't get the chuck to work or open to change the drill bit. I have really tried!

Hi Alice: Is this a "key"? If so, put it in place with the drill pointing up and the key handle pointing level and towards you. A light tap with a hammer on the key handle should loosen it. If it is a "manual grip", try putting the drill in reverse, and at low speed. Hold the drill handle with your right hand, and hold the grip firmly (really firmly) with your left hand, and squeeze the trigger. It should release the chuck. If it doesn't, try putting a pipe wrench on the grip.... gun facing away from you, wrench from the top, handle on right. gently tap on the wrench handle should loosen it. Cheers.

Ryobi 40v battery shows full charge with fuel gauge and when connected to a volt meter but when placed in the tool it does not work, also have tried other tools want work in those eather

Battery(s) no good. A battery can display correct voltage but not work because it has no current (amperage).

My Ryobi drill stops while drilling

Hello Jim & Karen... Welcome... (sadly... you have drawn a chatty fixer)... Other than the (many: Black & Decker, Craftsman, Skilsaw & Melwakee) power tools that have defective cords (easily detected by wiggling the cord around) I have had a couple where serious detective work was required ... one very used & loved... the other new (both Makita) so I don't PRECISELY know Where that proverbial pop-out part {10' spring: usually) hidden inside of (your Ryobi) all appliances to persecute us amateurs (SPECIFICALLY)... but I am confident you proceed cautiously you can get in & out of your drill... and you will be the better for it (possibly the RYOBI too). The only guarantee I ever offer... is that if you (carelessly) pop this tool apart most likely you WILL NOT be able to get it back together again. Take GOOD USABLE pictures before you start... and as your work progresses... If you have an assistant... put the plug in your POCKET. I don't (ever) mind having spare parts... and even as an amateur... I have a better batting average than the PROs... and I pass all my savings DIRECTLY back to my OWN pocket. Most home-owner drills have low hours and are pretty clean... If this is a WELL USED unit... clean it up with a vac, damp cloth and compressed air before even thinking about opening it. Also... get some new motor brushes (if available)... and pick up some CRC contact (electrical: see below (around $9)) cleaner before you start. Make sure everything is completely dry before proceeding, http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ryobi-carbon-brushes-ps-7931-17.html If the unit has low hours... you are (most probably) looking for bad connection or foreign object. Good luck & happy hunting! FIND PARTS FAST Search eReplacementParts com Ryobi Carbon Brushes eReplacementParts com Amazon com crc contact cleaner
