Same Thing just happened to me, I bought a painter with two batteries. One battery did not charge. Took the kit back, got new kit. Two batteries will not charge.Charged them for additional 12 hrs, still no good. Returning them to Home Depot.

Take it back to the store and tell them it is no good, and get a new pair of batteries, take the charger too. I had the same thing, brand new batteries, gone in weeks, they replaced them, no problem.

I was recently told that the lithium ion does not like cold temperatures so you may need to bring the batteries and charge into a warm location and wait until they reach a warm temperature and then charge them.

try and unplug the charger for a couple minutes and let it reset and the insert the battery. It might work, I have a LI-ION charger from a different MFR that does the same thing and it works for me If it doesn't work I would suggest calling ROBI direct at 1-800-525-2579 and speak with their tech department. They don't provide much online help.

Nicads and Nmh batteries can be charged, but Lithium is a different process and using NiCad charger will not properly charge the batteries and also put them at risk of damage.

there should be a warranty I would think no matter where you bought it. There are codes on the tool to tell them when manufactured. I would contact a service center or repair service again and push the point. If you still have a problem let me know and I will try and get a number at Ryobi itself for you.

When it is brand new only. If charged overnight and still does not last take back to purchase place and have them test battery..then make them replace it if it is bad...:)

Yes you can that is an automatic charger when it is fully charged it shuts down the charging portion but keeps the charged light lit however this does not effect the battery.

The battery isn't any good. The charger is just going through it's regular steps. (I know how it is. I just bought two Ryobi 18 volt batteries for my Ryobi cordless drill, reciprocating saw, flashlight,
trim circular saw, combo set. $60 for two batteries)

Yes, the green light flashes until the battery is fully charged on Ryobi chargers. This will change to a solid green light when the battery is fully charged until the charger goes to a power-saving mode. Not all of the Ryobi chargers have a power-saving mode. However, for those that do, the green led will dim over time and then brighten and dim slowly again in this mode. My Ryobi charger, model P113, actually has a key for the LEDs on the unit on the left of the battery port. Seems batteries have completed their normal life and require replacement. Keep in mind that when batteries are exhausted, their voltage remain normal but loose current. It seems that batteries do not sustain current i.e. have become un usable.

Yes it is too cold for the battery outside. Indoors and on charge it should go yellow to green. If the not return the battery under warranty.
