Husqvarna 40 Chain Saw
The saw
The model 40 has a single piece electronic ignition, it cannot be repaired it will have to be replaced, before replacing, check the air gap between the flywheel and the ignition unit, this should be 0.3mm, also diss connect the earth cut out wire from the terminal on the unit and try for a spark again, this will rule out any fault with the wire or the switch, the ignition works off speed of rotation so you will have to crank the start as if you were starting the machine.

Saw starts good but when you press throttle all
Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for any decay or other damage. If no help, try turning the H jet screw CCW slightly until the engine 4-strokes lightly at speed unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Hope this helps!

I just replaced the cylinder and piston on a 55
Check the fuel filter, air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Did you use a fresh gasket on the lower part of the cylinder and the carburetor? You may need to clean the interior of the carburetor with spray carburetor cleaner. Also, check the condition of the lower chamber diaphragm for hardness or cracking--check the needle valve that it controls too. Correct adjustment of the H jet needle is when the engine is running at speed unloaded, it is 4-stroking, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Make sure the bar and chain are being oiled properly by running the bar tip at speed near some cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil. Hope this helps!

My 385xp-husqvarna chainsaw with a 2 foot bar is
Husqvarna are reknown for this, remove the pump and pick up pipe with the filter on, slip a rubber o ring the correct size onto the hose, this will space the hose out the distance of the o ring and create a better seal against the oil pump body.
Fill the tank with petrol, this is much thinner than chain oil so you should very quickly see where the leak is.

My saw will run for
I have had this happen several times with the Husqvarna saws that I work with out here at the lodge I work at and 9 times out of 10 it is a small ****/break in the fuel hose inside the fuel reservoir that is sucking air and not getting fuel. I have also had a problem with the little filter on the end of the intake hose ( inside the fuel reservoir ) and it is not sitting at the bottom of the reservoir.

I have a 358351610 chain
Set the chain brake to off, then remove the fasteners on the right side cover where the chain drives from. This will release the bar which will slide back toward the engine and allow the chain to be removed. Note the direction of the cutting edge of the teeth. Clean everything including the two small oil passages that run from the large holes in the bar out to the chain groove on each edge of the bar. When refitting a new chain, back off on the chain adjustment screw (CCW) a few turns to allow the cover to fit to the bar properly. Fit the chain over the clutch sprocket, then insert the bar to the engine. Work the chain over the bar, then pull the bar outward to tighten the chain. Install the cover and the fasteners finger tight. Make sure the cover fits the bar properly. Tighten the chain adjuster CW so that the chain pulls up to the lower bar edge, but not so tight that you can't turn the chain by hand. Tighten the cover fasteners, then recheck the chain tension. The lower run of chain should be cutting as the chain moves toward the engine. Check the chain oiling by running the saw at speed with the bar tip near some cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil after several moments. Hope this helps!

Bought this 16" 36cc Craftsman
I'm not an expert.. But.. What I would try first is, remove the spark plug, drop several drops oil into the cylinder, try to get it to move around piston head. Let that sit for a hour or so. Try to crank it without the spark plug. May get some oil spray, look out.. If it cranks ok, then put the spark plug back in, and try it. It's possible it may not start still, because carb/fuel is dryed out and gummed up. But first step is to loosen the piston. Good luck.

Ratio for gas mixture
The ratio is 40:1. Use good quality 2 stroke oil, preferably Husqvarna, not the type you can get at car service stations as the cheaper oil will cause the engine to wear more quickly.

Cannot start husq 340 have spark but no combustion
The engine may be flooded--take the plug out, turn the saw upside down, and pull the starter rapidly a few times with the throttle full on. If flooded, a fuel spray will likely come out of the plug hole. Make sure the ignition is OFF when doing this--you don't need a fuel fire! Is the spark at the plug blue and snappy (plug gap set to 0.020")? Replace the plug and see if it will run. Make sure the air filter is clean. Hope this helps!

Fuel lines on a craftsman chain saw need to be
just connect them both anyway you chose. press prime button a few times to pressurise tank. you get a 50/50 chance to get it right.
if it just sucking air release pressure first by removing filler cap to prevent face full of fuel then swap pipes over on carb. i did this job a couple of weeks a go on my husky66. only use proper flexy pipe from a lawn mower centre. costs about £2.50 / foot.
