How do you know if you need to replace the RO

A TDS (total dissolved solids)meter is needed to test the Reverse Osmosis water and compare it to the feed water to determine how much TDS is being removed. Reverse osmosis membranes are designed to remove 80-95% of the TDS in your water supply.

For example: If your water has 500ppm of TDS the minimum TDS removal should be 400ppm leaving 100ppm. If the TDS from the Reverse Osmosis System drops to these levels it is time to change the Membrane.
Typically an RO system will consistently remove 90+% of TDS for many years. The normal lifespan for a membrane can be anywhere from 3-10 years. It all depends on the TDS of your water and your water usage. The higher the TDS the more frequently the membrane needs replacing. The other filters should be replaced every 6 months to keep the quality up and protect the membrane.
A TDS of 1000ppm compared to 100ppm is much more difficult remove to acceptable levels. I like to compare 1000TDS to taking muddy water, forcing it through a filter and getting drinking water. Where 100TDS may be more like a clear glass of water. Consequently a reverse osmosis system on high TDS will be less efficient, less gallons produced and filters will need to be changed more frequently to keep the quality and quantity up.

I just changed my under sink culligan D30 water filter and there is a leak when I pressed the pressure button. What should I do to resolve this problem?

Well the simplest answer is the gasket isn't seated properly. The standard approach is to remove the cartridge, check for any foreign material (dirt, sand, grit, etc.), rinse with clean water if necessary and reassemble. Sometimes these cartridge units can be fiddly to get the seals to 'seat' properly so once you're sure that the parts are together nicely then you can use a bit of pressure to tighten them up. They usually need to be fairly tight.

Culligan reverse osmosis filter system has stopped providing water from the sink mounted faucet attached to the system.

Since unfiltered water went through it for a couple days, I would guess you have mineral build up. If this is the case, be careful about trying to use it. There are certain products you can buy to unclog the pipes. Most will have you pour them down through the pipes connected to the polishing filter. If you can take the pipes apart, I suggest going pipe by pipe to see where the build up is. Elisa Jed ' http://www.watertectucson.com

Low pressure

Depending on your faucet, I bet the problem is some debris that came loose and is blocking the flow at the valve that the faucet handle turns. 5 minute fix. Turn off the water supply under the sink Get a Phillips screwdriver and a flathead one Get a pair of expanding pliers Usually, the faucet handle comes off straight up when you remove the Phillips screw on top. If you cant see a screw, it may be hidden by a cosmetic cap (this is what the flathead is used for-to pop the cover off) When you remove the handle, there will be a section that needs to be removed using the pliers turning counter clockwise. Once that comes up, the valve should lift straight out. I bet you will se a debris obstruction there....easy fix to clean it. Reassemble in reverse. I hope this works.

Water comes very slowly from Kent RO faucet and to fridge.

If it has only been one year, check the warranty. Who said that it needed to be replaced? Oftentimes, a repairman can adjust the pressure to increase the outflow without needing to replace the whole unit. Elisa Jed ' http://www.multicrafthome.com

Contact Whirlpool directly. Filters may be faulty however it is likely an installation problem. They may be able to walk you through the installation process to check everything is done right. If you're lucky and they decide the filters are faulty, you may get a new pair free!

The rubber washers tend to perish after a while and with the water off the rubber has most likely dried out. You need to pull the tap apart and change the rubber washers to put things right. It's not a hard job to do yourself but there are 4 standard sizes of tap-spanner; one of them is probably right! Give the whole assembly a rinse with water from a jug you set aside before shutting off the main water out the front of the house. <ahem> That's right, before you dismantle the tap make sure you shut off the water supply to the house! If you're still not sure, call your local handyman to do the job. He can probably do it on a shorter time frame and just as well as a plumber.

Depending on which type of plastic you have, it should say on it somewhere and it should look like a triangle and it will tell u pvc or nilon or abc. Then go get that type of glue and seal it with the correct glue. You could also use a food grade silicone, but remember to rough it up with some sand paper.

[email protected] how to remove a culligan

It depends on the style of faucet and how old it is. Their pre 1990 faucets have to be taken apart under the sink. Newer style (plastic, chrome r2d2 faucet) can be taken apart from above. If it is a custom faucet it will have to be taken apart from below sink.
