I've misplaced the owner's manual on a DEN 500 P. What is a good basement setting for Summer in Central Ohio? Is a manual available on line?

I bought a cheap digital humidistat at Walmart to keep an eye on the humidity in my basement. I hung it on the wall not too near my dehumidifier. I have found that the settings on the dehumidifier are misleading, but I found a setting that keeps my humidity between 40% and 55% (at around 70 degrees), as measured by the humidistat.

My DeLonghi dehumidifier is collecting water but

The drain tube that drains the water into the bucket is clogged and needs to be cleared.

To do this, you will need at least an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar. (But, NO wire coat hangers) that will fit into the drain tube or hole. Carefully work the Zip Tie into the hole or tube and gently push it forward. You will reach a bend in the tubing, but you will have to gingerly work past this bend. Once the Zip Tie bottoms out or you run out of Zip Tie. slowly pull it back out while rotating it. This will help breakup the clog. Once you start reaching the end of the inserted Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

The above procedure should solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

POWER QUIT AFTER POWER SURGE

do you have any power or display that might give clue to root cauae but dhe two most likely issues that i would first eliminate are protection of electric circuit when the volatge spikes during a power on grid cycle and master reset or other resetfp. many homes are not well grounded thus putting strain on lower cost power for consumer product. inexpensive surge protectors might be robust enough to use in time for actual date. the other is a switch located behind plastic horizontal grill. a hard reset via holding start button while power cycling might restore the cpu lockup ot main bord toaster. if this doesnt help more detail is needed. cheers, tai other thing concerns a precious pbut i? .his might be only a ailed couis condensor is not sufficient and your product that might be your root cause

What diameter tubing is used

George, regular garden hose is what is generally used for continual drainage. Just don't exceed the maximum length of hose, that is listed in your Owners Manual. And, despite what they say about being able to pump water up thru abasement window, it really doesn't work that well. Unless the unit is right below the window,

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

De'Longhi DE500P quit working after

Paul, There are 5 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2..

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications . Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen. Parts are available, but recharging the compressor should be left to the pros.

If you decide to dispose of it. The land fill is not an option. The compressor has refrigerant gas in it and must be disposed of properly. Most cities and counties have drop off sites for this type of appliance.

I hope I was able to help you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
