If the suggestion that renevacdoc did not work, it is most likely that your valve assembly(full bag control) has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You will have to take your vac to the Aerus/Electrolux dealer/service store for repair.

I have a Electrolux , EL6988 Canister Vacum,

Turn the brush unit upside down, so you can see the brush roller. Then, with the brush roller positioned nearest to you, you will find the reset button close to the rear edge, near the wheel that's on the right hand side as you look at it.
Good luck! I hope this works for you. I value your feedback. Please remember to rate this response.

Vacuum bag is always says it's full even when is

You very likely have a defctive control valve under the dial on top of the vac , or a kink or blockage in the tiny pressure hose that feeds the air from the throat of the vac or the back of the bag chamber against the two sides of the rubber diaphragm inside the valve.
You can inspect the tiny hose ports for blockage and clean them with a fine piece of wire. To access the control valve you will open the bag chamber door and slide the bumpers forward with their internal locking keys with a pair of pliers. Once removed the body will open like a **** shell front to back. The control valve will likely have a crack in its threading and can only be replaced with a genuine part available at an AERUS Electrolux store. The fix is a most often a new valve.
This vac is the RUBIKS cube of all vacs. It reassembles with ease when all wiring and tabs are perfectly aligned, so open slowly, upside down , wheels up , mark your wiring and take your time reassembling.
When it all clicks EASILY together without the bumpers, you have it done right

How can i put on the snap ring on an eloctolux

The snap ring is generally found on a Canadian made LUX AP series prior to 1982 and it is in fact a coil spring you must leave the wiring off the handle. Be sure the steel cap and rubber o ring are on the tip of the hose. Slide the handle onto the hose with the hose tip facing upright. then with a small flat screwdriver separate the hooked tip of the spring from its body and run your screwdriver around the spring, feeding it into the groove inside the hose handle, spiraling as you go. similar to how you would feed a key onto a key ring. Before inserting the wire cover try to swivel thew handle it should rotate smoothly. Be very gentle inserting the wire cover pin as it will crack the handle. Use gentle pressure with pliers to start it , then squeeze it into place with your plier jaws fully open.
Post back to advise how you have made out

Electrolux model 2100 shuts off with slightest suction blockage

This is exactly the symptom you would expect from a defective bag control valve. The actual control valve sits under the dial on top of the vac and often cracks internally. It can be replaced in about 15 minutes by a good tech with genuine parts from AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair center.
You can open the vac front to rear like a **** shell by sliding the bumpers out the front with the bag door open, however you must be careful not to disturb the wiring harness and to mark wiring locations. The body must be carefully realigned for closure. If it is not perfect you will not be able to slide the bumpers back in.

I have an older Electrolux canister vacuum - model

Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age.
The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down.
To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop

When running the 2100 Electrolux vacuum, it is

Depending on the age of your 2100, you will need to replace, the wand cord, the handle wiring and perhaps theh upper wand inner tube and handle as well.
If you examine your cord contacts they will be blackened from slippage, so will the female socket they plug into. On and aging 2100 the 1/2 inch groove at the front of the chrome handle tube begins to wear and the metal inner tube clip under the thumb button of the wand develops play back and forth. The wand comes apart into 4 pieces, plastic sheath, upper and lower tubes and cord assy.
If the hose handle groove is worn enough to allow in and out play, you will need to replace the handle, it's wiring, and at least the clip button on the upper wand as well as the wand cord.
You will find these wand parts at a pro vacuum shop but if your hose is original you will need to go to an AERUS Electrolux repair center for parts.
Post back with your results.

The vaccuum overheats after about 10 min. i have

Have you changed the bag and filter ?
This usually happens when the motor dosen't get enough air over the motor to keep it cool. Try dropping a coin thru the hose and see if it comes out the other end. If it dosen't, try pushing a broom handle thru the hose to move the blockage. NEVER use a coat hanger or anything that could damage the hose and there are electrical wires that run thru it. If you still have the problem, take your vac to the Aerus/Electrolux store.

Power nozzle suddenly stopped working (no power or

Hello. Check out your reset button located on the top of the power nozzle. It is either black or red. Turn the cleaner on, and while running, push in the reset. Voila! It should be working again. The reset is put in the vac to protect your power nozzle motor. You have a geared belt that is driven by a circuit breaker protected motor. This way, if there is an overload on it, it will shut off, allowing you to clear it and reset it. I hope this helps! Have a good day.

Need a wiring diargam to look at

You won't find a diagram.
You will have series of yellow and white and sometimes gray wires on the outside of the motor housing and often a letter code etched on the housing , indicating the original wiring from years ago, red, blue, yellow, however the newer wiring eliminated those colors.
These wires are almost fool proof as they will align with the longest wire at the furthest point,a center one piggy backed , etc however before starting please post back to advise if you have removed the rewind and or motor and if so, did you disturb the motor wiring inside the motor shroud.
Please post the original problem you opened the vac for as well and I will try to walk you through this

Bag was full, changed it, the unit now turns off

Try dialing the control valve to the mid way position. If the unit still shuts down with the bag full light on you have a damaged control valve under the dial on the top of the vac.
This valve failure is common in this model and can only be repaired by someone with original AERUS Electrolux repair parts, generally at an AERUS repair shop.

How do i open my canister vacuum

Open the bag door and grip the bumpers with a set of pliers. The bumpers cover a set of locking keys which will slide all the way forward and out. The back of the vac will then lift off and the top and bottom will open hinging forward like a **** shell. Observe how the front door hinge clips into the lower body before opening teh unit.
If you do this , tag your wires and observe how the pieces interlock. Open the vac with it laying upside down on a piece of carpet.
It will NOT go back togerther unless it is perfectly reassembled , so don't force it.
Post your problem before opening and I will walk you through the reapir

Motor removal

The body on this unit split apart at the bumpers. You will open the front lid and slide the bumpers and the internal slides forward to separate the panels then the rear housing will drop off. At that point you must gently separate the halves by opening back to front. Pay attention the the hinge area for the bag chamber door as there.are 3 tabs which will lock together during reassembly. Note how each component slides into a body channel for positioning for reassembling
Do not yank apart, look inside to where the tubes and wiring harness are located and disengage the bag lockout switch from the bag cage if equiped, being carful not to lose the spring.
The wiring harness in this unit is designed so the longest wires reach the furthest terminal, but you should mark each lead in the body and also in the motor shroud
**** Also note the position of the thermal couple on the motor as you remove it***. The motor and rewind will separate form the bag cage by lifting up and back with the vac laying upside down. Then gently separate the shroud from the rewind where they are clipped by prying with a flat screwdriver. Reassemble in reverse order tucking the cord grommet into the body, then closing from the hinge area back.
Best of luck. Let me know if you need more help.
