My Electrolux Epic 6500 SR will not turn off by
WOW !!! Finally You are dead on, absolutely 100%.... good work!!!.
Get only a genuine new switch button with spring from an AERUS Electrolux dealer and reinstall.
Then carefully reassemble the entire body and wiring harness.
Congratulations getting there.... you rate as an honorary technical genius in my book,...Your wife should be bragging about you to her friends. I am genuinely impressed and I`ve been fixing these since 1990. I bow in your presence.
PS while youre in there, check the rocker for evidence of fatigue, it is the more common issue
How do i replace headlight bulb on an electrolux epic
To be honest, It's simpler to take it to any vac shop to replace at a nominal cost than it is to explain how to through all of the steps to do so yourself but I'll try. Basically, remove 6-7 screws from the bottom of the nozzle head, take a medium flat bladed screwdriver and gently pry back on two accessible internal tabs in the bottom rear of the nozzle head in order to pop the top of the power head off. Remove the top and there you'll see how easy it is to change. You can use a 15W or 25W bulb. Reassemble and VOILA! You're back in the spotlight! Hope it helps!
What does the question mark mean
The question mark means there is no bag in the vacuum. If there is a bag in place, check to see if the bag is covering the bag switch located to the bottom right with the bag door open. Remove the bag that is in it and find the switch. Replace the bag and make sure the cardboard on the bag covers the switch and close the door. The vacuum should run.
If it doesn't run you should take it to a vacuum repair shop that works on Electrolux vacuums.
Starts but turns off immediately. red symbol lights up
check your bag for fullness, if full, change it.
if not, try adjusting your grit control on the top of the canister to the largest setting.
if your vac still shuts off, you need to replace the control valve assembly.
Vacuum shuts off while vacuuming
You have a control knob on top of the canister, try adjusting that up to the highest grit (large dots), if it continues to shut off, you will need to replace the control valve.
How is the belt on the power head replaced?
Well u would have to give me a brand manufacturer name or some thing but with almost all vacuums there are either tabs or screws on the top of upright or bottom of floor tool on sweepers. All you should have to do is remove screws to access belt, then pull out the brush and that should be it.
Why did the beater bar stop working?
the problem may be either the hose or the spout[the area where connect the hose.Start the vacuum and twist the hose around especially near the end that connects to the wand.If it starts and stops it is probably the hose.....please get back to me if this doesn't help...Chris
Need manual for epic series 6500sr
Hi,
Go to aerusonline.com. They have a section under the "surface" heading that you can download the manual. If no Epic 6500 is showing, use the Legacy manual. Same thing.
Hope that helps. :-)
Power head does not work canister does . There is voltage at the power head.
Although it could be a multitude of things that keep the power nozzle from operating properly, the most likely is, since it's an Epic series, Is that the power nozzle elbow assembly needs replaced as the fine wires and top of the elbow tend to break/short after 5-10 yrs. of use.
It's also very well possible that the power nozzle reset switch or hose switch at top of handle is defective. Try plugging the power nozzle directly into the hose handle assembly and turn machine on. If the power nozzle still doesn't work, it's definitely a problem directly with the power nozzle.
Hope that helps!

Electrolux Epic 6000 SR Owners Manual?
oh, and as far as i know there's no secondary filter on this machine. or at least if there is, ours hasn't needed any tending to in at least ten years or so...
How to fix retractable power cord
this can be tricky and dangerous if you are not familiar. The cord winder had a metal coil system that spins very fast.Sometime people pull the cord too far out causing the coil to seize. To get to the winder slide off the "Electrolux" slide off[located on the sides of the vacuum] Your best bet is to take it to a vacuum repair shop. Before trying anything take a flat screw driver and puch it in the hole where the cord comes out and push it in,sometimes this fixes the problem sorry I cant tell you more as it is hard to explain the procedure....Please be careful.
Change filter
At the back of the vacuum is a tab you push in on to allow you to lift the filter cover off to remove the filter
What does the round circle by the bag symbols do
It is a sensor so the the bigger the ball is the more sensitive it gets it measures the weight in the bag and the full bag light goes on so if you pickup something heavy like paint or powder you should turn to the smaller circles so it won't be as sensitive
