Is there a blower port

Yes. It's located beneath the accessory caddy on the back of the vacuum. Press the release catch on the rear of the caddy, and lift off. Remove the afterfilter, and there's the blower.
You can find a manual for this machine, and others at: aerusonline.com.

Dirt got past the filter

The screaming is due to the dirt in the motor. It needs to be taken to an Aerus Electrolux store immediately for cleaning. I don't know if the motor can be saved, but a new motor is still cheaper than a new vacuum.
For the store nearest you, follow directions on below site.

The check bag light comes

This is most probably due to a worn out or clogged Control Valve Assembly.
Detach the hose and see if it runs. If it does, place hand over hole. If it shuts off, CVA is probably the cause. A clogged CVA is generally due to using generic/made-to-fit bags. Genuine bags have "Home Solutions" printed on them.
You can try turning the dial all the way to the large dot, then try to run the vacuum.
If it is the CVA, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have their service tech repair or replace the part. I recommend a service and clean of the vacuum at the same time. This will extend the life of the vacuum.

I vacuumed a shirt.

Have you pressed the reset button on the power nozzle? If the power nozzle motor isn't running, this is the problem. If the PN motor is running, the problem is more likely to be a broken belt, and it needs replaced.
If the belt, I strongly recommend taking it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux dealer to have it replaced. It can be tricky disassembling and reassembling the PN without damaging something.

I have a Guardian that we purchased maybe 10 years

If this is the same one as what is pictured in the picture next to your description, then this is a common problem.

For starters you will want to disconnect the power brush from the wands or poles.
Look on the neck piece, towards the front of the neck, you are looking for either a screw, or a round cover. If its a round cover, you want to remove it to reveal the screw, and then remove the screw.
Once the over is off you should see 2 wires, brown and orange. They should both be connected to the pins for the electrical connection on the power head.

What I suspect here is that the wires are 1) off 2) broken. If they are off, just replace it onto the pins and your good to go. If the wires are broken, you will have to fix those wires. Fixing the wires is not so bad, you do have to make sure there is no exposed wire when your done, however, soldering them and taping them is not uncommon.

Good luck,

How do I open the canister of the Aerus Electrolux

Hi there,

This will not be difficult to open, however, inside may scare you.

Remove your hepa filter cartridge (if you have one)
turn the machine over.
Undo the 6-8 screws there and pull the bottom off.
you should see everything there. If you are careful, just remove the old rewinder, and replace with the new one.

Good luck.

The head on my guardian suddenly quit working

No, that's the only one. Make sure there is nothing wrapped around the roller brush. If so, clear it. Try pressing the reset button, then start machine. If nothing, there's good possibility the switch is broken or worn out. I recommend taking to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store to allow the service tech to check it, and repair if necessary.
If you don't know where the nearest store is, follow instructions on following site.
You can also call and ask for someone to pick up the machine and take in. Just be sure to let them know you are absolutely NOT going to buy a new machine. Yours should have lots of years left in it, especially with some periodic cleaning and maintenance.

I have replaced both bag

Are you referring to the filter on the exhaust port, or the one under the tool caddy. If you haven't replaced the one under the tool caddy, open the cover of the caddy and look below the tools. You will be able to see the filter, and if it's dark gray or black, it needs to be replaced or removed.
Next, detach the hose and see if it will turn on without the hose. If it does, hold hand over intake to see if it shuts off. If not, a clog in the hose is likely. If it does shut off, or doesn't turn on with hose detached, it needs to be checked at the Aerus Electrolux service center near you. You could be looking at something as simple as a switch replacement, a more expensive hose replacement, or something more difficult inside the canister.
If you still have your sales agreement (pink), check the purchase date. This machine had a 25 year warranty if used with genuine bags, parts, and home use only.
If you no longer have the owner's manual, you can download one, with warranty information, from http://www.aerusvacuums.com/support/manuals/index.cfm. Go to "older models" at bottom of page, click on "down arrow", pick "Guardian (English, French and Spanish". Download to a folder you've created just for it and similar stuff for your Electrolux products. Warranty info is near the back.

We changed to a new

Try this. Detach hose from canister. Turn on. What happens?
If it runs, place hand directly over intake port. What happens?
If it shut off immediately, an internal part is broken and needs to be replaced. This is a repair that needs to be done at an authorized Aerus, new name for the Electrolux company that made these vacuums, service center.
It's also a problem that's seen a lot when generic "made to fit" bags are used. Genuine bags are made by Home Solutions and will have their name on it. Use of generic bags also voids the warranty. Which, depending on date of purchase, yours may still have on the canister itself with it's components.
Wiring and switch problems can also cause this, so the machine, including hose, wands, and power nozzle, should be taken to a service center for a complete check.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The issue can be due to many reasons: probably the bearing is out or the motor itself has gone bad and/or the impeller is bad. To check what is causing this issue you’ll have to take it apart and then check start with checking the edges of the impeller, if these edges are broken then it’ll cause a loud sound. If this is fine then check the bearings as they might have failed causing this issue, also check the fan as that might be loose. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

I am having a problem getting one of my brushes

This is the Floor Pro for those wondering.
Generally, giving the brushes a quick tug with a counter-clockwise twist will get them right off.
The naplifters can be used either way, but generally are used after shampooing. Be aware that if you happen to have Berber or any looped carpet, absolutely don't use the naplifters. (I hate Berber!)
For best results, use naplifters, vacuum slowly, shampoo (1 cap of shampoo per line of water), use naplifters, allow a couple hours to dry, vacuum slowly. Vacuuming slowly removes the maximum amount of dirt from the carpet and even under pad.

Lux legacy canister vacuum - the top light on the

The "plug" light simply tells you the machine is plugged in and receiving power.
I'm not sure what you mean by "no power to the bottom of the roller". If the power nozzle motor isn't working, make sure nothing is wrapped around the brush, remove if there is, and press the reset switch.
If the power nozzle motor is running, but the brush isn't turning, then the belt must have broken, and needs to be replaced.
Considering your machine may still be under warranty, I suggest taking it to a local Aerus dealer and having it replaced.
