Turn off the Printer and Unplug it from the Power Supply. Remove the Cartridges from the Printer!!!!! On the Backside of the Cartridge you would see a Copper Stripe, Wipe the Copper Stripe using a Paper Towel! Reinsert the Cartridges and Restart the Printer.

Try the following steps. I tried it on my MP990 and it worked.

1. Make sure the printer is turned off.
2. Press and hold the Resume button (triangle inside a circle).
3. Whilst it is held down, hold down the Power button. The green led light should come on.
4. Keep the Power button held down. Release the Resume button and then press it twice. The light should go amber, then green again.
5. Release the Power button.
6. Press the Resume button four times and then press the Power button straight after to confirm the selected action (Reset Counter Absorber).
7. Turn off the printer and then turn it on again

Check the printer is listed as "shared" on your partner's machine and it is available to all users.

You may not have enough room on your hard drive to install the drivers. If you have a previous canon printer driver installed, you have to completely uninstall it, too.

First, get a flashlight and check inside printer for anything in the way of the ink carriage unit. canon does have their software for your printer online on their website but if your printer is having issues being plugged into one USB port try another if not remove all driver software related to the printer in device manager and try installing once more hope it helps....

do a google search for "canon error codes" and then count the number of orange flashes in your sequence. Compare that number with the options on google and that should identify your fault. If it is a general purpose "refer to technician" fault you should probably just replace the machine.
