You should be able to assign Abby FineReader 11 Pro as the OCR software in the Lexmark software (Lexmark Productivity Studio for Windows or All-in-One Center for the Mac OS). You will need this software though and to have the monitor running to "listen" for the scan button to be pressed. You will also need to ensure your firewall doesn't block communication if you connect the X6650 through the network.
In the Productivity Studio (launch Lexmark Home), click on the Settings tab and then the Scan Destinations option. Add Abby FineReader 11 Pro to the list of destinations. Click on that option and click on the Modify button to make sure that the Application button is set and is pointing to the correct program and correct file type. Then you can go back to the all-in-one and press the Scan button. Select Scan to Computer and then choose Refresh to update the list of destination programs.
I hope this helps. The steps may be slightly different in the Mac software.

All faxes automatically go into the memory of the printer. If you want to clear the faxes out of the memory, try resetting the printer to its factory defaults.
It's possible that the problem is with the USB port on the printer. If you have a router, you can try to connect your printer using an ethernet cable so you won't have to configure your printer using a USB cable.Once you have connected the printer using an ethernet cable, proceed with the installation in your computer and choose ethernet as the connection type. It should automatically find the printer on your network.

If you are encountering power problems with your printer, please
go through the following checklist:
Make sure the power cord is
plugged in securely and directly to the power outlet. Power surge
protectors can draw power away from the printer.
Disconnect the power cord from
the power outlet and the back of the printer and then reconnect it.
Check the power supply box (if
there is one) to see if it is warm or cold, as there could be a defective
power supply issue.
If there is access to a
voltmeter, test the power supply to ensure that it registering the correct
amount of voltage (most Lexmark printers have a 30Volt output).
Make sure the correct power
supply is connected to the printer.
Leading cause of paper
jams or misfeeds is debris / foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed
area. Please try this approach to fix the problem:
Remove the sheets of paper from
the feeder.
Grab a flashlight and look
inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
If you're willing and
physically able, you may also carefully turn the printer over. Any debris
should just freely roll out from the feeder.
If feeder is clear, place the
printer on the table. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
Check the cartridge area for
any obstructions in the paper path.
Close the printer cover.
Re-brick your printer by
pulling out the power supply - the black box where the power cord is
plugged into. Re-plug after 30 seconds.
When the printer turns on,
reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again to verify
that the problem is fixed.
If your printer does not have a duplex unit then the printercannot print double sided pages automatically. You can print double sided pages but you have to do it one page at a time.First print Page 1 then place the page back into the paper tray, but turn thepage upside down and the print Page 2.Then print page 3 on one side then page 4 on the other side and repeat for therest of the document.I suggest you try a test page first, to get the printing the right way up onboth sides of the page so it reads correctly.
Sounds like a scanner hardware problem. It's not advisable to open the printer and repair it yourself. It would be best to contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for further assistance.
