Unable to check ink levels on deskjet f4140

The ink guage on my HP quit also but I was able to access via the tool box. Not sure if this is a software issue or the touch screen. You might be able to access the ink level when you go to print and do advanced settings. The ink level may be presented depending on your print program.

How do i put new ink cartridge in

Hi,The printer must be ON. Open the Front Access Door of the Printer. You should see a Carriage ( the part that holds the cartridges ) move from left to right. Wait for the Carriage to Stop ( usually in center ).Open the packaging tape from the cartridge and slide the cartridge inside the Cartridge slot. Insert the cartridge from below and Push the cartridge upwards to snap. You will hear the snap sound.Close the front access door and wait for the Cartridges to be aligned. After the printer has printed alignment sheet, Place it face down on the Scanner glass and press OK button. The alignment will be complete.Regards,Suhail

The first thing that you must do is make sure that the device is already installed to your computer. Insert the document to be scanned on the scanner. Double click the icon of your scanner and on the option menu click scan. After the scanning process, open the My Picture folder of your computer and locate the image file.

Why does it take so

Your printer is only capable of the following speeds.
Black Print Speed Up To 20 ppm Color Print Speed Up To 14 ppm

This does not take into consideration the size of the file you are sending to the printer which also takes time to spool. Always remember you get what you pay for and this is a cheap low end printer.

HP Deskjet 4140. Scans

Well, it could the the printer itself, but before you decide anything, you need to make sure about few things.
1. Try installing it on another computer and verify how it works. If the problem persists, then it's possible that the scanning unit of your printer is defective, you'll need a local tech to inspect it. If this works, go to next step, but if not, go to step 3.

2. Uninstall the driver/software and reinstall it after your computer is restarted. Make sure your printer is turned OFF while you uninstall the driver/software.

3. Clean the printer components, including the scanning unit and other components like carriage, inner compartments, usb port, etc..

4. Try with a new usb cable or another working usb cable.

Among the four methods given above, one of them will be definitely helpful to you to find out the exact cause of the problem.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Here is the link to the HP Support website for your model:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3235310&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated.

When you get to there, click on SOFTWARE AND DRIVER DOWNLADS.

Then select from the list what operating system you are using in your computer and click NEXT.

Then click on DRIVER.
Then select HP DESKJET BASIC or HP DESKJET FULL FEATURE Software and Drivers.

If you are not sure just select FULL FEATURE version.
Then click on the blue DOWNLOAD button.

After that just follow the onscreen instructions for installing the printer driver software and connecting your printer.

You can plug in the power cord for the printer but wait until the installation program tells you to plug in the data cable to your computer before doing so.

Thank you very much and good luck.

does it says request time out? It could have something to do with the downloading capability of you internet connections.

what browser are you using to download the file?is it internet explorer?it usually does not have issues with IE 7 and IE 8.Sometimes there are errors in IE 9 version specially Beta Versions.

If thats the case try using different browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

If still cant go through, try downloading it from your friends internet and PC.Check with your ISP why you cannot download a file

or

call HP they are still selling cd installer for this model
