I had this same issue. I had attempted to resolve it with the directions above from Mohammed. This worked one of the 8 times I had to reattempt shortly thereafter. I contacted customer support, and he stated that it was a hardware issue within the printer and offered to "replace" it. Since it was out of warranty it would be replaced with the Photosmart C5520 at a cost of $100.00. At the time of offer a 2 second search showed this same model was available from amazon for 97.50 brand new. So in all reality if its under warranty still your golden. If not, your Shitouttaluck.

Download the XP driver and it will work for Vista - just make sure you pick the correct XP driver for yr operating system - either 32 bit or 64 bit. Makes a huge diffs if you choose the wrong one. If u not sure wot Vista bit system you have, go to System (in control panel) and look at the System properties, you will see either 32 bit or 64 bit.
