unplug all devices except the hard drive and 1 cd/dvd rom drive. disable the audio device and any other unnecessary devices within the BIOS and remove all pci cards. remove all but 1 ram stick, and try using different ram sticks, one at a time, while trying to boot. if it boots, with 1 ram stick, 1 hard drive and 1 dvd/cd drive then try adding/reenabling the other devices one at a time, until you find the device that keeps it from booting.

if your pc wont load with just a hard drive, cd rom and 1 stick of ram, then it is prolly trashed. if removing/disabling one of the other devices (such as the sound card or the modem card) allows it to boot, then you have found what needs replaced.

I solved this problem a while ago.
Download Soundmax audio driver for your particular make and model of computer, and install. (setup wizard will guide you through)

while booting press F2 to enter to bios setup. in the main tab go to Boot Features. the first point in Boot Features is POET Errors will be "Halt On All Errors" then you have to change it to "No halt On Any Errors"

Try Safe Mode. Press F8 key during bootup and you will be presented with a black screen with multiple choices. Select "Safe Mode". This will load Windows with minimal drivers and with admin login option. If you can log in as administrator then create a new account in the Control Panel. Restart the computer and shut down. If it shuts down correctly then you are half way there, windows OS is not to badly corrupted. Boot up and if it comes up normally select the new profile you created.

If this does not work, then you will have to repair the system files, for which you will need a OS CD or restore disk.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. The very fact you tried an external monitor shows you have some good IT skills. As long as you know this monitor works it is a good test. As you have no image try toggling the video output signal by using Fn (Function) and the CRD/LCD (Cathode Ray Tube/Liquid Crystal Display) keys or Alt (Alternate) and the CRD/LCD keys.


If this does not workthen it is either
1. Laptop on board graphics failure
2. Laptop LCD panel failure
3. Laptop inverter failure
4. Laptop backlight failure
Turn on your laptop and look closely at the screen, can you see what you would normally see but very very dark? If so it is the backlight. If you cannot see anything, which is likely, then it is the inverter, actual panle failure or grahipcs chips on the motherboard.

It is most cost effective to send or take the laptop in for repair. You can replace inverters yourself but there is guarantee it is that. If the graphics on the motherboard has failed then all you can do is have the motherboard replaced. If the laptop is slow and old it may be time to consider a new laptop. If the laptop is under warranty, goto the Fujitsu Siemens website and log a under warranty repair.

start your computer in safe mode, from that uninstall graphics driver, than restart tha system.

It will, if you have at least 1 GB of RAM, but extremely slowly and without any Aero effects.

have you got the same softwares avilable as in your old book ,make sure you have office word to access if you have then right click and use open with select avilable document reader ¬

Please check if the display drivers have been installed or not. If not, please reinstall the display drivers and follow the below steps:

1. Right-click on the desktop, go to appearance tab.
2. Click on effects, under "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" option, select "Cleartype" from the dropdown.
