HP Pavilion a1520n PC Desktop Questions & Answers
Desperate to get my Dead Desktop going again................
I always start with the power supply. Your power supply may not be producing all the power your motherboard is requesting, even though the light on the back is on. If you dont have a power supply tester, then you can try removing your power supply and trying a known working supply in it, making sure you have the right connectors on it for your motherboard.. I looked at a pic of your motherboard Asus A8n-vm and I dont see an orange (or any) button to push. Was that to reset your bios? If so, unplug the system from the wall, and carefully remove the battery from the motherboard. While it is out, push the power button on the front of the computer a few times. The computer wont start up, as you have it unplugged, its just to drain the motherboard of power to reset the bios. Then reinstall the battery, making sure it goes in the same as it came out (- is usually down and + is up). This should reset the bios info to the factory settings. But I still think it is a faulty power supply.
Hp pavilion a1520n power on
Open the cpu cabinet cover.Clean dust from all parts. Pull cmos cell from motherboard. Reconnect RAM memory.Try with another RAM if you have. Reconnect processor and it's fan. Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet cover. Remove pci card if any if you use vga card then reconnect it.
Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then put back it into it's original position.
Then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

I need the driver for the SM BUS CONTROLLER ON MY
Double click the SM Bus Controller, go to the Details tab, change the Property drop down box to Hardware IDs, copy the last hardware ID in the list, and then go to
http://devid.info, paste in the hardware ID, and then it will bring up a selection of downloadable drivers for that hardware ID. Good luck.
If you have any problems, paste your hardware ID in this thread.
Alternatively go to your motherboard manufacturer website, you might find something there.
I do not know how
Restart the computer. As it's booting up, keep tapping the f8 key over and over until the boot screen appears. From there, you can select from the menu for it to boot into safe mode.
Trying to reformat my hp
It sounds a little strange because it should do as the disk tells it.
Check the BIOS is set for DVD/CD Rom drive as 1st boot device.
Insert System disk into drive. Re boot the computer and follow the on screen prompts.
Vista will have no problems because it will check the OS that is installed, notice the date stamp is older than Vista and install a new OS on the drive. XP however may have a problem. If you have SP2 or SP3 installed, your XP system disk is older and will not be allowed to load without prompting.
Hope that helps.
When I boot my HP 1520n

USB Ports not working
First off was you mouse running like this before the driver update? If so you may need to roll back the driver in device manager. Next go into device manager and choose view>Resources by type>expand the IRQ (Interupt request) and then check all your IRQs that have been set for USB service and see if any of them have been disabled by double-clicking on them and look towards the bottom under device usuage. Let me know if this works. Thanks
