How to clean memory in dell 531s

If you think you're having a memory problem, you have these options: 1. Re-seat the memory chips and make sure they're in the socket correctly. 2. Go to www.Dell.com/support. They have diagnostics that will test Memory and all systems in your PC and show you what might be wrong. 3. You can run a memory Clean or defragmentation yourself. Go to Start, then Computer, then right click the C drive and select "Properties" then look for "Clean Memory" and/or "Tools" to do the "defrag". Hope this helps.

If your PC doesn't boot up using the hard drive, you can check that by looking for the F2 or F12 displayed on the screen during boot up. Then start pressing F2 or F12 quickly to get setup. In setup follow the directions and set your "boot device" to "hard drive" Hope this is what you needed.

Booting up

Yes, I would check all connectors and remove all devices to the bare bones and see if it boots up. Then re-install cards one at a time to see if you can isolate the problem to a specific card or device.

CD tray broken

DVD writers are sold as complete unit, they relatively inexpensive. You can fit them yourself, with nothing more than a screw driver, if you are comfortable doing this. Most computer shops will carry stock and be happy to fit the new equipment, although there may be a charge for this.

Why does my icon Page take long to download??

The reason why that happens is because after sleep mode the machine take a little while to start running all the back ground processes so your page will wait until all those processes start running then the machine will do your assignment.

Inspiron 531 / vista restore

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat 40pin ide this will be the first to fail Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd and floppy (If Applicable) have secure connections and are not faulty. Restart your computer During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or the F2 key but will differ depending on your computer and Bios. Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS then using the arrow keys navigate to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd press escape then press f10 to save to cmos restart this will erase you operating system you will have to have an operating system disk to load it onto you hard drive or create a partition to load another operating system. Note: After you have loaded the operating system you should go back and change the first boot device to failsafe or optimised defaults after windows has loaded If you are putting windows XP on your computer your computer will automatically restart it might restart 2 times one to finish the installation the next will be because the operating system is loaded and will boot from your cd\dvd. Hope this helps.
