Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook - Page 4 Questions & Answers
The function key for the numbers on the keyboard i can't seem to stop it. When I want to use the letters i have to use the blue funtion key
The "problem" is simply that there is a persistent toggle. If you press "Num Lk" (I've also seen it labeled "Pad Lk" for numeric Pad) it turns on the blue keys, and inverts the meaning of the "Fn" key - it's a way to use that embedded numeric keypad without having to hold down the "Fn" key the entire time.
To fix it, just find and press the "Num Lk" or "Pad Lk" key again. (Note, sometimes these keys are themselves "Fn" keys, so you may, or may not, need to also hold down the "Fn" key to get the right function.) Often there is an indicator light associated with the setting.
Cant restore factory settings Acer Aspire One A110-Ab 8.9" 1.6 GH
Unlike
other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility
called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data,
create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset
Acer laptop to factory setting.Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.
Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.
Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.
Step 4: Again click 'Next' to
reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard
disk and reset your Acer laptop to original factory settings.
Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Why can't the automatic repair option fix my acer aspire v5 can't repair pc
I assume you are talking about startup repair which fails no matter how many times you run it.
The most common cause for this problem is file system issues on the hard drive. This usually occurs due to an improper shutdown (by holding the power button down to shut it off or if the AC is unplugged or fails without the battery installed or when the batter has failed completely). The solution to this is to either use a Windows boot disk (with an external USB DVD drive) and perform a CheckDisk on it or take the hard drive out of the computer and attach it to another Windows computer and perform a CheckDisk on it.
The second most common reason this occurs is due to a failing hard drive. Hopefully you have your data backed up somewhere. You will need a new 2.5" SATA hard drive and the Recovery Disk Set for your computer from Acer if this is the case.
I hope this has been helpful. Good luck and remember - always back up your stuff (pictures, music, documents, etc) - the more important your stuff is, the more places you want to have it.
