to change the batt on an ebel womans watch i simple. 1 take out screws from bezel. 2 lift off , make sure to keep rubber gasket in place. 3 pull out stem to the set position. 4 be very carefull not to bend / touch hands. 5 turn case upside down, and you will see the opp side from the winder drop out slitely. with your fingernail pull downwards gently on works, then when you have it out a little on that side, turn it back over. and continue to lifft up gently, 5 as you do so, start to rowtate the works counter clockwise. the stem is made to .bend / swivel and the works will turn upside down and lay back into the case. to protect the face while installing the batt. 6 when done gently lift the same way but rowtate clockwise. but make sure you grab sides of works and not the face. ( the hands are very delicate) 7 take the batt to a jeweler to replace you will never find a batt with the same number ( ebel made sure of that ) they want you to pay 140.00 to 240.00 for them to do it. but a jeweler can match it. now that said, once you take the bezel off, your ebel warenty is void. so 140 -240 or $5.00 your choice i have had meny watches over the years all with rubber gaskets and have replaced batts is some five times and the gasket are still fine. and a batt will last 3 to four years. five in 15 years could cost you $ 1020.00 in the long run. hope that answers your question.

I can pull out the crown 1 step to adjust the date and another step to adjust the time but not completely. I looks also like e screw but is that really the case? Do I have to use a lot of force to get the crown out?Jan

i have changed the battery on my and my wifes ebel classic wave watch,,
step 1 ...remove the crown by pulling away from the watch, use your thumb and index fingernail and pull , it will come out
step 2 ...remove all 5 gold bezel screws
step 3... be careful,, the bezel/crystal will pry off easy
step 4... be careful and remove the entire face/hands/watch guts all in one easy step,, or just turn the watch over and it will fall out
step 5.. small screwdriver and remove/replace battery
step 6... reinstall watch guts/bezel and gold screws
step 7... push crown back into watch
step 8... take wife and kids to dinner ,,you just saved three hunderd bucks
if have done it many times ,, you can do it !!!!

hello some watches have a screw down crown turn the stem screw counter clockwise a few turns and then try pulling out gently. hope that helps

Hi hope this steps will helped you in changing the battery but I just want you to remind that you have to be careful in changing the battery because it might affect the other part.


1- remove the crown by pulling away from the watch, use your thumb and index fingernail and pull , it will come out

2- remove all 5 gold bezel screws

3 - be careful,, the bezel/crystal will pry off easy

4 - be careful and remove the entire face/hands/watch guts all in one easy step,, or just turn the watch over and it will fall out

5 - small screwdriver and remove/replace battery

6 - reinstall watch guts/bezel and gold screws

7 - push crown back into watch

ebel keeps that a secret they have a marking on there batteries mine 690 but there is no such after market replacement with this number. ( ebel wants to be the only game in town/ world ) but if you want to replace it your self, witch will void your warrenty 'says' ebel. take the battery out and take it to a jewelry store, and they can match it up ( $5.00 to $6.00 ) or pay $240.00 to ebel to "service" it. clean / new gaskel / batt witch ebel says is necessary to change batt. every 3 years or so. do not take the watch to the jewelery store only the battery , because know one will open it. they will want to send it out to ebel for service big $ also save old batt, because if you ever have to have the watch fixed put the old batt back in and hopefuly they wont notice. to get the battery out read my instructions i have posted its easy. other posts i have read on replacing batt, they don't know what they are talking about. do NOT remove anything but the bezel only. please Read hope this helps you out.

For example, a water resistant watch marked at 30 meters depth cannot be expected to withstand activity for longer time periods in a swimming pool, let alone continue to function at 30 meters under water. This is because the test is conducted only once using static pressure on some of the newly manufactured watches. The test for qualifying a diving watch for repeated usage in a given depth includes safety margins to take factors in account like aging of the seals, rapidly changing water pressure and temperature, as well as dynamic mechanical stresses encountered by a watch. Also every diving watch has to be fully tested for water resistance.

The back will need to be romoved, but in doing so yourself, you will VOID your warranty, and since this is an expensive watch, I highly recommend that you send it in.

mcdevito75 here, Chances are the qiuckest way is to visit a local jewlery shop in your area, they may have quicker accesss to Ebel so you can get Ebel replacement links, this way your Ebel watch remains 100% Ebel.
