u either need a new thermostat or your compressor is dead

did someone chop the lead off it? if so why did they?
this freezer may be electricaly unsafe. If the lead has been chopped off then there should be the tails of the old lead still on the terminals, so just replace them with the new lead.
I would strongly advise you to test it for any potential shorts etc before you turn it on.

what you are hearing is the overload kicking in and out. which means bad start relay /bad capacitor/low voltage/bad overload/bad compressor.you can buy a 3in1 to eliminate all but the compressor. and the voltage check them first.

I have a stand up freezer and mine feels warm to the touch as well could be because of the ice forming inside i would say as long as it is working not to worry over it regards Jim

Remove the panel covering the compressor. Remove the relay plugged on the side of the compressor and shake it. If it rattles or has any burned spots it is shorted out. Try replacing it first. Make sure you replace it with the correct replacement, not a fit-all. If this is not the problem you will need to replace the compressor. If it is less than 5 yrs old the compressor should still be in warranty. If so call Sears, it will be repaired free of charge. If it is out of warranty buy a new freezer.

When the freezer goes into defrost mode, some thumping/popping noises can sometimes be heard as the defrost heater melts the ice built up on the evaporator. Quite normal.

green with yellow are ground wires and usually are from compressor to system chassis from your 3 prong plug use the green wire and just find a point on the chassis to pin to if you can get model number you can find on kenmore website

Sounds like an alarm to warn you something is wrong with it. I would have a professional look at it.

You can put a fridge/freezer in the garage. Be sure that the area is level so you don't warp the case which will cause sealing problems with the gasket. Also, clean the condenser frequently as dust and dirt will reduce efficiency.

This is a normal condition.  The condensor coils are in the cabinet and their job is to remove heat which is why it is hot.  You will want to make sure the freezer isn't in a tight spot where air from the room can't flow across it.  Without good air flow it will become too hot and not cool properly and lead to the compressor failing too soon.

I cannot find any manual or information on the 3 lights. I would assume that the green light means everything is OK, the red means current problem, and the amber means manual defrost is due. Sorry, this is the best I can do. Later.

LOW / NO BATTERY ALARM The Low/No battery alarm will activate when the power level of the battery becomes low. The display will alternate between "b" (Battery, See figure 8) and the cabinet temperature, the red alarm light will become illuminated and the control panel will beep every five seconds. To stop the audible alarm (beep), press the "ALARM RESET" button. The red alarm light will remain on and the display will continue to flash until a new battery is installed. This same alarm will activate if there is no battery installed

try unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for a while. 15 minutes maybe? Leave door closed so it stays relatively cold. It should reset the unit.

The light may be staying on and creating heat, or the unit thinks the door is still open. Or the door seal is worn and is letting cold out. Or It needs gas.
