Can I Mount Casters with Screws into Bottom of Chest Freezer?

youyr best bet would be to build a frame that the casters are welded to and there are no holes in the outer shell of the freezer. some L shaped angle would work nicely for this application and then there would be plenty of support for when the freezer is loaded up with product. Be sure that teo of the casters are lockable and two in the swivel freely.

My kenmore chest freezer is the garage, the temperature outside is over 30 celsius, the side of the freezer where the motor is is very hot, and some other places on the front and other side is warm to

The hot sides is normal, this is how they expel the heat from inside the freezer, sometimes it may help to use a fan to help cool. Also make sure there is about 12" of room around all sides of the freezer .

Ice on the inside walls of chest freezer

Check the seal around the lid sits firmly on the rim, give it a good defrost before restocking. Make sure all else is working and clean, particularly any condenser grilles / fans.

Freezer reads off on display

Not sure if its the same for all Kenmore freezer models but this may indicate it is in demo mode. To remove this press the up or down arrow three times as fast as possible (within 2 seconds). This will start the compressor, I hope this helps.

HI i just bought a

No, it's supposed to be hot on its outside: just make sure the airflow around it is good, the compressor and the radiator at the back are clean and the power plug has a good grounding and a proper fuse and all will be OK.
In the worst case scenario you have a malfunctioning defrost resistance that is constantly on and when it will fry it will take the compressor with it, killing the freezer. But only it, the rest of the house and yourself are perfectly fine. If you want to prevent that you will have to dismantle the freezer and disconnect the resistance - without it the ice buildup inside it will be much faster so you will have to stop the freezer for deicing sooner than normal.

Has power but does not freeze

About the only things that can be replaced on a chest style freezer are the thermostat, and the starting device for the compressor. if you know where the control is then thump it fairly hard to see if the unit comes on. If unit comes on then you need to replace the thermostat. (control and thermostat are same thing). now if it has the digital display on the door of the freezer do not thump it. Only the newer freezers have those though. Hope this helps

Where is the drain plug

Hi,
Most freezer do not have a drain plug...it is very possible that you do not have one on yours...
The best way to get the water out is to siphon with a small hose till there is not much left .... then wipe out the rest with a rag....
Tipping the freezer to one corner will help you siphon more of the water out...

The freezer is not cooling

If you are getting some cooling the 2 most common suspects are the door and refrigerant leak.

Check to make sure the door/lid is closing all the way and the seal is good. You can put a piece of paper or dollar bill between the seal and cabinet there should be some resistance to pulling the paper out all around the seal.

If the door is not the issue and this is not a frost free unit ( I would need the complete model number from the product to be sure) then the next most likely culprit is that the refrigerant has leaked from the system or the compressor has become inefficient and can no longer circulate the refrigerant. A new compressor replacement would run around $400.00

New fridge freezer isgetting very hot on both

This heat is normal. The refrigerator you have in your kitchen will have the condenser coils which get very hot on the bottom or back of the frig. A deep freeze has the condenser coils inside the walls of the freezer. Hot temps are normal when it is running.

Try to leave an inch or so of space around it for air flow and that will help.

Plug it in, a click is heard but no compressor

The click sound that you hear is from the clixon (overload protection) on the compressor. This means that the compressor is tripping on overload.

Compressor click

Possibly. However it sounds like the compressor is running hot which could be the relay assembly sticking with the start windings in the circuit.

When plugged, it shorts the surge protector and outlets.

I noticed that my refrigerator, kenmore freezer2_bing.gif, and stove were all not on. This has not ever been a problem before, so I unplugged the surge protector and reset the outlet. I then plugged the refrigerator2_bing.gif and the kenmore freezer to the surge protector and I noticed when I plugged the kenmore freezer it just shorted the surge protector. I then just plugged in the refrigerator and oven to the surge protector with no problems. I tried to plug kenmore freezer to other outlet and same result "a short

Kenmore upright freezer model 29238 keeps tripping switch

If the compressor actually runs for more than a second or two its likely the compressor is bad. Some models had a 5 year warranty and some ten years on the compressor only. The replacement of the compressor is likely beyond your abilities unless you are a service technician.

A typical cost for such a repair can be more than the freezer may have cost you if nothing is under warranty. Good Luck.
