What replacement parts should I order to keep my Kenmore oven door from just dropping down when it is opened?

If the hinge is not broken "Check the Springs". They sometimes come off at one end or can be broken. There are 2 one on each hinge. They are strong so be VERY careful. As I remember they have a color code according to how strong that are according to the weight of the oven door. The surest way is to get the MODEL NUMBER from the tag on your oven. The parts store will be able to look up the proper replacement. I may be able to tell you more with a model number for Identification, the oven is likely a Whirlpool Product made for Kenmore. Let me know if you are in New York City area. Hope this helps. Service Cobca89254-27ef-483c-af13-d059646fee7d.png

Grease in between glass on oven door

You have 2 pieces of glass that are separated by a frame then sealed. What has happened the seal has been broken and thus allowing air and grease inside. You can take it apart but the grease will come back, or you can buy a repalcement glass and be done with it. The question is, do you want to go to the trouble of cleaning the glass (1-2 hours of disassembly and assembly) probably once every 2 months depending on how often you use the oven, or buy a new one and it will always be clean. One caution, cleaning the glass periodically weakens and flexes the metal frame or band thus making it harder to properly seat the glass.

Pour the acid onto the foil and wait 3-4 minutes, use paper towel to wipe off the acid, and then a soapy wet rag. Repeat process until all foil is dissolved. Then wash surface thoroughly and repeatedly with a soapy dish towel. Once complete run water in the sink for 5 minutes till any possible remaining accid is flushed from the sink. The foil is gone and the porcelain is preserved. Works great! (Don't breathe the fumes and ventelate the area or move the stove outside)

My Kenmore stainless steel oven has F1 displayed

Hello Jimmy, welcome to FixYa.

I understand you have a Kenmore oven you receive the "F1" error, the door is locked & beeping, correct ?

If you can provide the complete model number I'll be able to help you without generalizing and speak directly about your model. The 47783 does not yield any results in my database search.

In general the F1 means a overtemp secenario has been detected by the control board...whether real or false, thus the door locks for safety.

I will also add: Fault codes are not a foolproof system. Never assume that a part has failed based on a displayed fault code. An example would be if the EOC/timer is displaying F1 (RTD sensor), the failure could be caused by a loose connection or faulty wire harness between the EOC and sensor or the sensor could simply be unplugged.

As you can hopefully appreciate there are many possible scenarios being this is a global repair site, even within' the Kenmore brand so I'll need to clarify the model before moving forward.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

I have a double over

You can try this only option.1 out 100 chance is there in this procedure. Use "Naval Jelly", available at most hardware stores or home depot-type places. Follow the instructions on the bottle, they're pretty straightforward.Naval jelly has internal acids in it.It reacts with the aluminium foil and loosens the foil from oven bottom surface. For some users it helped to clear this aluminium foil stuck problem. But if that is not helping then,Unfortunately, when the aluminum foil melts on the bottom of the oven, there is no way to completely remove it. The good news is that the bottom plate can be replaced relatively cheaply, usually for less than $30.00.You can call the manufacturer and order this part. You unscrew the two screws to the bottom of the damaged tray of your oven and then install the new one and put back the screws. This problem is faced by many others too.
------- NOTE:--If you have melted foil in the oven, do NOT run the self cleaning cycle on the oven until the part is replaced. If self cleaning cycle is run, then it will dame the oven. ----------If you are worried about food dripping and burning on the bottom of the oven, there are oven liners available that will not melt under the heat.A cookie sheet can also be placed on a lower rack to catch any drips or spills. You can get this from electrical appliance parts store. ------------

you can also get the required part from online sites like:---

www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Just bought and installed a used Kenmore electric

the hinges on these door are spring loaded and there really isn't any adjustment to them... they from time to time get weak and if items have been set on the door over time or just continually use the will get weak... also the door seal around the door can puff up on unit from the heat check to make sure it is not the culprit...but if after you close you can push on it with your hand and close it the rest of the way most likely you need some new door hinges installed which can be done and is not to complicated... a site to go to and look at parts diagram and may help you in deciding if you want to make repairs and if so can also order is
www.sears.com click the parts direct link up top then a screen then a screen wil load you can type your model number in and you will see a parts diagram broke down and a picture of your oven
good luck to you ....

After broiling steaks, f10 appeared

Press the Stop/Clear button. If that doesn't work, press it and hold for 3 seconds. If you get a fault code, something is broken. If it is associated with broiling, the first thing I would check is the broiler temperature sensor. Is there a buildup of grease on the ceiling of the oven?

How do I change the lightbulbs in the oven

Make sure the oven is off and cool (turn off the circuit breaker). Wear a leather glove to protect your hand. Depending on your model, there may be a glass shield held by a metal holder over the lamp. In the case of a unit with this holder, press on one side to release the shield and remove it. Remove the bulb by turning it counter-clockwise. Replace with a 40 W appliance bulb (turn clockwise). Replace the glass shield and the holder. (On some oven models, the shield will twist on and off like a bulb.)

There are several models of Kenmore 47783 Ovens; manuals are available here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/search?query=Kenmore+47783 .

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(please note: never operate the oven without the shield in place if your oven has one.)

I have aluminum foil stuck

For the aluminium we suggest first to try to remove it or at least the major part of it with other ways than self cleaning mode. On good way is put is a bake pan water and bake it at 250-300 degrees for 30 minutes. After this the foil will be much easier to be remove maybe part by part is the best way to remove it, you can try to use a little Cif also this will help.

Self cleaning is best for all kinds of fats. The foil is very high temperature it can become one part with oven and stay there forever, some parts of foil will be remove by their self but even one or two permanently spots is not a good idea.

The oven keeps beeping and

The F10 indicates that the electronic oven control board senses a runaway temperature condition in the oven through the oven sensor circuit.
This can be caused by a faulty oven temperature sensor probe or a failed electronic control board.
Oven temperature is detected by the control board as it monitors the resistance through the oven temperature sensor circuit.
You could have a failed oven temperature sensor, a wiring harness failure, an open thermal switch or a failed electronic oven control board that would cause this problem.
The first component to check would normally be the oven temperature sensor probe.
If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can shut off the breaker for the range and remove the screws that mount this sensor to the back wall of the oven.
Carefully pull the wire harness into the oven cavity until you get to the wire harness disconnect plug.
You should have enough slack to pull it this far into the oven.
Disconnect the sensor but do not let the wire harness retract back through the back wall of the oven or it will be hard to reconnect.
Measure the resistance of the oven temperature sensor with your volt/ohm meter. At room temperature, the resistance should measure around 1100 ohms.
The resistance chart is shown in the image below.

If the resistance is above 2200 ohms at room temperature, then the sensor probe is causing the F10 error code and will need to be replaced.

You can order a new sensor probe from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the sensor is 316217002.

If the resistance is normal, then one of the other causes mentioned above is producing your F10 code.
You would need to access the electronic oven control board (Timer) in the console and check the resistance at the sensor circuit connection to the control board as the next step in troubleshooting this problem.
