Follow this link for step by step instructions. Note you will need a crank puller which you can purchase at most bike shops. remove both covers then crank weldment(discs).

We had this problem after assembly as well, it turned out to be a bent pin inside the connector to the flywheel housing (where the wires connect inside the lower part of the main mast). It was so bent that it never actually made contact with the connector.

We straightened the pin, carefully reconnected the wires, and everything worked just fine.

This says to us that the "E-2" error message means the console is missing at least one connection from the system. This could be caused by a bent pin, a torn/cut/frayed wire, etc -- anything that might make it lose signal.

So check the lower connection for bent pins, check the upper connection for bent pins, and check all along the wires for any kind of damage.

It is possible that the crank arms are not seated correctly on the bottom bracket spindle, causing them to be misaligned. Try removing the crank arms and re-installing them, making sure that they are properly aligned with each other and with the bottom bracket spindle. That error code is for the speed sensor. There is some kind of issue with it, it may be loose or misaligned, the magnet on the fly wheel may also be. Or the sensor may have failed entirely. You may check the sensor and the magnet but that will depend on your comfort level in taking the unit apart to get to the issue. What would you like to do?
