You need to be sure that your cd drive is also a cd burner. If it is then the problem might be fixed by any of the following: 1. Clean your disk that you are writing to or try a different one. 2. Use a cleaning CD to clean your drive. 3. Close any other programs that might be using your drive, song, or windows media player. 4. Restart Windows Media Player. 5. Restart your computer. 6. To reset the file associations to WMP:

1. Open Windows Media Player.

3. Click the File Types tab.
