I would say you have to be kidding, but I don't think you are. Go on Craigslist and see what people are asking for similar styles of bike (of course you don't know what they actually get). The brand does not matter all that much, and Mongoose is sold at Walmart, so nothing special in general. It's called a crank arm, and the pedal (not peddle) is attached to the end. Usually one uses a crank puller, but as you have not said exactly what model bike you have or provided a close-up picture it's hard to advise you in more detail. Other than your own curiosity it's not important to know what year it is. Do you mean the chainwheel (front "sprocket") or the cog(s) (rear "sprocket"? If the former then crank bearing is out of adjustment, if the latter, then the freewheel/cassette may be bad or the hub bearings out of adjustment. How about just go to the source (manufacturer)? Mongoose Contact Us They may be able to give you the required specs, and perhaps sources. That being said, from pics I pulled up it appears to use a cartridge type bottom bracket (would need to know proper spindle length) probably a "square taper" type, and you would also need to specify crank length. Pedals are standard 9/16" - whatever style you want. Depending on how much is missing (cranks, bottom bracket and pedals?) this could end up costing you quite a bit, so I hope you paid very little for the bike, which sold for less than $200 new, worth well under $100 used in rideable condition. If it's been repainted you probably won't find out what the manufacturer is, as the serial number is next to useless, and it's not all that important. If the bike has welds and equipment typical of a better bike (rather than a Huffy, etc.) there is not a great difference between brands of the same level. Go to the Mongoose website (mongoose.com)and look at the various models. You should be able to identify the bike from there. There are various models within each category of bike they offer.

I can't tell what kind of crank you have for sure from your description, but I guess it is a square taper. (See http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/crank-removal-and-installation-three-piece#article-section-2 for details of different types).

If that's correct, and you've ridden the bike with a loose crank, you won't be able to fix it because the tapers will be heavily damaged. You'll need to take it to a bike shop and get a new crank put on I'm afraid.

U go to a bike store and get another one and install it where the original was.

the brake pads just need to be adjusted. angled so the pads hit the rim on the back of each pad first. right now the front of the pads are touching the rim first and making a squeaking noise. very common and very easy to adjust.
