I don't know your OS, but you aren't connected to the internet. Wired or Wireless? If wireless, connect using a Ethernet cable. Let us know what happens. It may be Blocked by a number of things. It would be helpful if you supplied the device you are trying to connect to.

You need the bios master password from http://www.unlockbiosrecovery.com/Unlock_HP-Compaq_Bios.php for $20 and they guarantee it to work. The bios master password will clear any currently set bios password, I use them often in my work repairing laptops.

You have a virus.....You can actually ctrl+alt+del and go to task manager and end the process manually to get past that. after that you are going to want to run a full scan with your virus scanner. If you don't have anti virus software you can get one of several free ones online.

F6 or F5.

You can change that in the BIOS setup. Depending on the brand of your computer on the start there is this message to press either ESC, F2 or F10 to go to setup. You can change it from there.

Hit the F10 button on boot up you will get a choice there to boot last known good configuration.

This should work .. Something has altered your boot files
If this doesn not work ,Insert CD that came to you with Pc /laptop RESTORE CD.. this will add enough boot files to fix your issue

Then reboot with out the CD it will boot properly

if you do not have original CD borrow a cd from friend or someone boot from Operating system CD tis will restore your boot files

Have you tried upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 your drivers for this PC unit may be in the new distribution.

click on you network connections your wireless settings might of been disconnected
re-connect it and see what that does

check to see if the laptop is muted. Also, check the
volume control to see if everything is up where it should be, including
Speaker Out.

If I've got this all straight, the only thing that it can be is an
issue with the plug on the speakers and the jack on the laptop.

Obviously the computer is putting out sound to the headphone jack as
evidenced by your ability to listen through headphones. The speakers
work on another computer. So, it has to be something specific about
the Speakers on this laptop. Plug/Jack problem is the only thing that
comes to mind.

There are many known ways to reset / remove / bypass the password:

* By removing the CMOS battery
* By using the motherboard jumper
* By using MS DOS command
* By using software
* By using Backdoor BIOS password
Almost all motherboards use a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings.

If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.

This sounds like a weird solution, but it worked for me. I recently bought a used Presario 2500, it worked when the guy showed it to me, when I got home it didn't work two days later. I tried several tips from the web, finally I started pushing several buttons randomly. I pushed the Email (Envelope) button, and the computer powered on suddenly. Now, the Envelope button is the only button that will power the computer on. When the computer is on, that button will also bring up Outlook, but when the computer is off, that button turns it on. Let me know if this fixes it for you.

Appears that recovery disk #2 is bogus. U can try to get a new set from HP (fat chance!) or you can do a reload from a normal, retail OS disk.

Hello Most laptop or PCs, has a combination keyboard pressing keys, that invoque the restore routine. usually F11 or F10. others has DVD, check and see what you have of these two. in the first one, you recover from a disk partition the whole OS.

Its all about go to HP page, and bios updates, the instructions are there too! but be aware you have to be more specific on model, and BIOS dates.

If the fan making a smooth spin, but the noise is too loud, then it means the fan is trying to dissipate the heat. Probably the air inlet and or the air outlet (also the fan itself) is dirty (or clogged) and you need to clean it up using a canned air. You may need to open the case/body if the dust become a dust ball (and you need a tweezer and qtip to pickup the dust ball and clean up the fan blades).
