The most important thing with installing a HDD is the connector. If your connectors are long and have a large number of exposed pins you need an IDE drive if the connector is small and has a little "L" shape in the middle you need SATA. Then just select the size you want and the speed you can afford.

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk,and remains active untill turned off. make sure that your RAM is securely seated test or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive make sure the connections are secure including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive)) make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ? hope this helps don

Remove any drives and then power on, if nothing displays, replug your memory card,processor and dedicated video card if there is any. Lastly reset your bios, just remove the button shape battery and then place it back.

When you say you "rebooted windows from the CD" do you mean you re-installed Windows?

If so, you will need to download and install the drivers specific to your system from the Abit website.

Download the audio drivers (and the others while you are there) and install them.
