The shower tap is broken. The top came off of the

it may be very simple--you have to get your head underneath the tub spout and look to see if there is a "set screw" on it---if there is ,you unscrew it, which releases the screw holding the spout in place on the pipe coming out of the wall---jimmy it a bit and the spout will come off---don't yank too hard---if there is no set screw, then all you do is turn the whole tub-spout counterclockwise carefully, and unthread it from the pipe in the wall..replace w/ a new tub-spout--anywhere from $5 to $500

Shower/spout

The valve is installed upside down and needs to be reversed. There is a diverter in the valve that gives the spout priority. When the valve is upside down it gives the shower head priority. Thats why it runs without the diverter being activated. You will need to get in the wall from one side or the other. Cut the valve out and either flip the faucet Or change the direction of the diverter depending on the style of valve.

Good Luck, Phil

How to reversing stem rotation for Pfister 910-030 cartridge

For Pfister 910-030 tub stem: Take off the 1/2 white clip at the end of the post, it's next to the 12 splines that hold the handle on. Its a little tight but can be done after the stem is installed. Flip it over and slip it back on aligning the notches properly first. A 2" long 13 mm socket slipped over the end and tapped lightly with a hammer helped me get it set.

If we put the wax

If you are installing a wax (doughnut) seal to connect the toilet to the main drain, then the wax ring should be big. It should 'squish' to seal correctly. You may not need it, but I've known plumbers to install two of the seals at once for extra gap-filling. Just install the seal, sit on the toilet to compress the seal into place and then install the bolts to the floor. Done!

How to clean the screen filter in the kitchen faucet

I don't know your exact model but most faucets screen filter can be screwed off for cleaning or replacement. Remove the screen filter with a pair of pliers and a rag. Once you get it loose, you should be able to unscrew with your fingers. Put the rag around filter before putting the pliers on it to prevent gouges and deep scratches in the chrome. IF you have a dishwasher, you can clean the screen filter on top basket of dishwasher if you have one. IF the screen filter looks bad to you, just replace it. Go to any hardware store ,take the screen filter with you and get help finding the right one. Once you have a replacement, hand screw it back on as tight as you can. IF it still leaks , use the rag and pliers to tighten it just enough to stop the leak in the screw parts. Good luck.

How do I remove a Pfister Marielle metal lever handle?

Bear with me, please. Adjust the temp at the physical valve? Interesting at the least. Never seen or heard of that. They come up with something new everyday. I'm going to follow this for my own benefit. Thank you. And good luck. - Ned
