Find and fix errors in your system BIOS
BIOS Patcher can find and fix errors in
your system BIOS (only AWARD BIOS for now) and also it can add or open new
features, i.e. some features that your BIOS has but they are closed by
manufacturer of your motherboard. It scans rom file. If it finds any known
errors it fixes the errors. If it finds any closed features it opens it. hope
this helps
Beeps on startup but no
Check the the cpu, ram and video card are seated properly. If they all are, then the board is defective and will need to be replaced.
I have an Abit NF8 series motherboard and am using
You can put in bigger processor, Any AMD Athlon or Sempron will do.
If you are planning to run big games, then I suggest you get
- A new motherboard with PCI Express 2.0 support
- A new processor
- A new graphics card (maybe 512 MB or 1 GB) with DirectX 11 hardware support and Shader Model 5
You may make that DirectX 10 or 10.1 and Shader 4 if you want to reduce cost.
I have a home built
JUst try to remove the Bios battery ..and before you insert it again ..be sure that you connect all the things back like they supposed to be ...Removing the bios battery will reset it to the factory optimal default ..so the first thing you will have to do after inserting it back ...is to power it ..and it will prompt you to go to bios and set the time and data...But ..my suggestion is just to press F1 or whatever will ask ..go to bios and do not mess with anything ...Just press F10 to confirm your choice ..and after you are in Bios ..set the time and the date ...Another issue if you have 2 Ram memories..and at one point it beeped long ...and now it is only making a looping (repeated) click noise ...it means that one of your Ram memories is not either inserted right ..or is gone ...
Also take a look to see if all the screws from the motherboard are in place ..cause sometimes if they are not all screwed ..the motherboard is slightly bending in the vertical position ..and causes Ram memory mis-contact
Trying to install Windows XP SP1 onto HD with this
Make sure your IDE hard disk drive is connected to IDE1 port and that the data cable is fully connected. Also check the jumper on the IDE drive. If you are using only one IDE hard disk drive set the jumper on the drive as a Master without a slave. If you are running two IDE hard disk drives set the primary drive's jumper as a Master with a slave. Set your second IDE disk drive's jumper as a slave. The master drive should be connected at the end of the data cable and the slave drive should be connected to the next data connector. Than check your bios settings. Power on the system and press the Delete key every 2 seconds until the bios menu loads. See page 3-1 in your manual. If you need the manual for the NF8-V MB click on the link provided below and download it;
http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=NF8-V&fMTYPE=Socket+754
You'll also need the program Adobe reader to view the manual. Adobe reader is a free download; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
Once you’re in the bios go to page 3-4, Standard CMOS Features.
Follow the instruction listed for IDE HDD Auto-Detection. Your HDD should be listed here. Than see page 3-7 in the manual. Open Advanced BIOS Features. A normal boot menu for the Abit would read;
First boot device Floppy disk drive (If one is connected). 2nd boot device should be (CD-ROM/DVD-ROM). Third boot device should list your primary hard disk drive's (Model number). Load your windows CD into your CD-ROM drive.
Once the settings above are set, press the F10 key to save your changes and exit the bios. Your system will auto restart. Windows should begin to load.
Cheers!
Mike
Light comes on but doesn't power up
Do you have both power connectors plugged in? The main is a 20 or 20+4 pin that is located near the front of RAM sockets. The other is either a 4 or 8 pin plug that should have a connector near the cpu socket. Both need to be plugged in for the board to boot up.
How to connect 2 cd-roms to motheroard
If they use the wide ribbon cable, you need the cables with two connectors. Then set on drive to master and one to slave, or set both to CS - for cable select. When you restart the computer, the OS will do the rest.
Kds monitors support
Hi Klex,
I was able to find the website address
www.kdsusa.com through one of their products on Newegg, but the site appears to no longer exist. They also had a phone number listed (1-800-283-131) but that too doesn't seem to work. I have the feeling that they have either close their business or ended their operations in the U.S..
Sorry I didn't have better information for you.
