There is a line with with wrappin on back of ref

Hi,

That is typically a sign of a problem with the heat exchange, specifically the suction line and capillary line have separated OR...the system has been worked on recently and been over-charged with refrigerant.

Answer me these questions...

Is it frosting up close to the compressor ? Where it comes out the back wall at the top back corner only ? Or the entire line all the way down to the compressor ?

Has this fridge had any system work performed on it recently or has anyone "topped it up" with refrigerant ?

What are the temperatures in the fridge ? Are you capable of gauging/measuring system pressures ?

Finally, how old is this fridge and do you know if it contains R12 or R134A ? ...if it`s old enough for R502, forget it ha ha !

I`ll watch for your reply.

Hello\r\nI am trying to troubleshoot my Kenmore Refrigerator

If the coils are not icing up you do not have a defrost problem. Check that the evaporator fan is operating. Thats the one near the coil. You will need to close the door switch to see if it comes on. If it is working next check that the damper is opening this alows cold air into the fresh food section. Without the full model # I am not sure if your defrost thermostat operates the fan. Check the wiring diagram to see if the t-stat feeds the fan. If it does and there is no power at the fan replace the t-stat.The problem is likely to be either the fan or damper motor. Thaw out the evaporator and check your defrost heater for continuity. Check you bi-metal thermostat for signs of swelling. The bi-metal has to be @25f before continuity can be confirmed on it.5051637.jpg Check your defrost timer or adaptive defrost control if the heater and bi-metal check out. Notice the bi_metal mounted upper right hand corner. It opens and kills the heater once the temp gets hot enough to melt the frost.(50f) If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61

What is the clunking noise made after the

The clunking noise you hear , is probably when the compressor shuts off , due to temp reached or when it goes into defrost . An internal motor mount spring , inside the compressor , is broken ( rusted and broke ) . The refrig can go on working for years , without any problem , except noisey , when it cuts off . To stop the noise , replaceing the compressor is the only option . I have heard of placeing objects under 1 leg of the compressor , to " re-adjust " the ballance , but thru my experience , another spring broke , causing more knocking .

My fridge keeps filling up with water, I pulled

Yes you are correct it is not drainind properly.
Remove the back panel in your freezer and at the bottom of the evaporator coil you will see a hole about ½” in diameter this is the drain tube. You might need to use some warm water to melt the ice and then run a wire being very careful not to puncture the hose and run it down the tube to free up the drain. This tube travel down to the bottom of your refrigerator to a pan sometimes located on top of the compressor or somewhere else down there. It collects the water there to evaporate. You can enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for a diagram or illustration of your refrigerator. Not all models are available.

Fridge was off for 5 months it was turned on and

It probally has a leak in the sealed system. To do a quick check remove the back panel and check the frost pattern on the evaporator coil. It should have a light layer of frost over the whole thing. If it is only partialy covered it is low on freon. Fridges tend to leak faster when they are not running.

Doors

Yes you can change the way that the doors open. You will see on the very top that there is a hinge screwed into the top of the fridge and also below the freezer door you will see two hinges, then on the bottom of the fridge is the last hinge. You will see all the new holes on the fridge as to where to locate and place the doors properly. This is a easy job to complete just make sure that you do this one door at a time to make sure not to confuse the hinges. Please rate

Icemaker does not make ice

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.To start withcheck the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve. If still the issue is not resolved then remove the ice bin, Remove the wires from the auger motor. With the freezer door open and the door switch depressed, push the ice cube release and check for 120VAC between the motor wires. If there is 120VAC then the motor has gone bad. If there is no 120VAC then the control board (module time delay) has to be replaced. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Water dripping into the refrigerator

Sounds very common. Without seeing your refrigerator I can only imagine that you have a drain pan leak below refrigerator, defrost condensate drain line loose or missing the drain pan, frozen over drain opening inside rear wall of freezer or the defrost condensate line is blocked somewhere along its route to the condensate collection tray below refrigerator. I am not finished so plaes don't rate me until I complete. Sea Breeze

Freezer works fine, but cooler is not cold. How

Have you tried cleaning the coils? I also lost cooling on the refrig side and it was fixed by a thorough cleaning of the the whole (in my case) underside of the unit. Your coil may be along the back. That was 8 months ago and it has been fine since. Depending on what needs replacing, it is probably not worth fixing unless you have a super top of the line model.

WATER NOT WORKING

Yes there is a shut off valve located usually under the sink or where ever it is getting its water supply, there is also the angle stops that you shut off that keeps water from going into the lines. check both of those, if there is still a issue, then it is something to do with the fridge. Something has got knocked loose and will need to be fixed
