It sounds as if there is something in the bottom part of the dishwasher arm (it sprays the water around the bottom of the dishwasher). I would suggest that you take out the baskets and then remove and clean all of the parts that water comes out of as well as the bottom drain. If this works or does not, I would also suggest that you run an empty load using 1/4 cup vinegar. Hope this helps!

I am doing all this and nothing! No lights turn on briefly, no short cycle begins..nothing. It will work 1 cycle then not a cycle, I have reset with turning off breaker, using the key sequence above, thought it was a drain issue, replaced the hoses. And here we are machine is not even a year old yet. Help

Kitchenaid: KUDE03FTSS1. Cleaning light pulses 6 times plus 1 1. Dishes not drying and wash cycle shutting down before finishing the complete wash cycle. Check door switch, ok. Check heating element, Ok at 14 ohms. Got to thinking, the Logic part of the mainboard must be working. It diagnosed itself. Remove K3 relay from W1019358 main electronic board. Took the plastic cover off the little 5-volt relay. Applied 5 Vdc to the coil, it worked. Found pitted contact points on the relay. Erratic continuity on contact points.I purchased 10, JS1-F-5V relays from an online electronic parts store. 10 relays shipped to my door $23.00. A new board could cost from 175.00 to 350.00. I also replaced the K2 Pilot relay. it was the same relay as the Heater K3 relay. The Dishwasher works great. The active parts general go bad. I had a Whirlpool dryer, found the heater element relay went bad on its board, replaced it for $4.50 I guess I got lucky on this dishwasher , tooStay Safe

Today my father and I solved this problem permanently for about four dollars. Yes only $4!!! I priced out the total repair for a Kitchenaid repair guy with parts and labor to be at least $250 and that was just too much for a $1500 dishwasher. Here's how we did it and here's how kitchenaid should have done it in the first place...After searching the internet and diagnosing the problem with my kitchenaid superba dishwasher, I also found that my nylon pulley spring system on one side had ruptured. Door made loud explosive sound one day when opening and then would just drop open real hard once unlatched after that day. I really didn't care too much about it until my three year old almost opened the door on my one year old's head. I took off the bottom panel and found a broken nylon string and a couple of white plastic pieces. I figured that there has to be a better way than nylon string to absorb the transition from metal spring to metal door. We went to Lowe's, bought four feet of 1/16 inch galvanized woven steel cable (total cost of $1) and two sets of ferrule and stops ($3 for both). Then we unscrewed the two side fasteners holding the dishwasher to the cabinets (We had already unscrewed the two screws and removed the base board). We placed masking tape on the floor to prevent the foot pads from scratching as we pulled out the dishwasher. With a little upward lift, my father was able to turn the foot pads and create more room and we then placed felt pads under them to padd additional protection from scratching.Here is the broken nylon and its plastic pieces and the springclose up of the poor construction that this heavy door relies onWe then measured out the distance from the end of the spring through the pulleys and to the hook on the door to be 17 inches, and thus, constructed a steel replica 16.5 inches to keep everything tight.So, from then end of one loop to the end of the other loop measured 16.5 inches. We double crimped each end with the ferrules.The other side was intact, but we just went ahead and removed it and replaced it with our new steel cable replicas. Here is the final insertion showing the steel cable going through the pulleys and hooking on the door.The door works great. My wife can't believe it. Most of all, my children are safe from head injuries from the heavy door. This whole escapade took about 45 minutes to do and literally only cost $4, yes four dollars. I suggest two people to do the job as my father was helpful in holding the flashlight and making sure we had enough slack on the water lines when we pulled out and pushed the washer back in. if the light is flashing 7 times there's a heat problem and the dishwasher won't start,if you remove the bottom kick panel you'll see the tech sheet,it will tell you about the flashing error codes, count how many times it flashes and look up the code,if it is 7 times you either have a bad heater or computer board,if you look at diagram it will show you how to read out the heater from board to see if the heater is bad or it's the board.

Clear packing tape is often effective but in a hot wet environment- it is not permanent, you may have to redo. Clean with alcohol swab first.

Sounds like it could be the bearing in the wash motor. If the sound is only present when you can hear water being thrown around then this would confirm it. Not sure about spares availability on a 7yr old machine though

Kitchenaids have a diagnostic service mode ... but each model can be different on how to activate. The mode is started by sequentially pressing a number of the control buttons repetitively. The particular sequence is usually listed in service technician paperwork within the dishwasher behind the low kick plate in front of the dishwasher. What type of dishwashing detergent are you using. If you use too much or hard desolving detergent you will get a build up that will clog the strainer. Try running some vinegar and water in the washer without the dishes from time to time. That might solve your problem. some stainers are at the bottom of the washer. some are secured by two screws others are twist and pull out. depends on the dishwasher.

Sounds like debris in the pump housing . Must remove screen and covers and clean.

Check incoming water for free flow
Add correct quantity of soap as per manual. Use dish washer friendly soap. Fill rinse aid liquid in the dispenser meant for it.

Select a different cycle programe and give a try.

it's supposed to drain out the same drain pipe your sink uses. If it is overflowing into your sink, then your drain pipe is clogged. Your sink probably overflows when your disposal runs too, right? Unclog your pipe and you're good to go.

Remember KISS Principle......check your circuit breaker panel for a tripped breaker first. If that is ok, there is probably another circuit breaker or a fuse on the unit itself. Hopefully, you have the book that came with the unit. It will show you if you look at the parts diagram and parts list. If no book, go online to the manufacturers website and download a copy. They are usually available free of charge.

Make sure you have power to the unit. Check the circuit breaker.

I do not think there is a replaceable filter on this dishwasher - it is supposed to be self cleaning. If you put some bleach in the dishwasher that should knock any smell out of any standing water. If the odor remains, perhaps it is another source? Something behind or under? I once had a terrible odor from the fridge and cleaned the entire thing out with bleach water - still remained. Finally found a dead mouse behind fridge...
