First try to unplug and then plug it back in. Hopefully this will reset the dishwasher. Good luck.

My old KitchenAid KDS-16 dishwasher is making a loud, high-pitch, metallic sound but it still appears to be operating OK.

There is a fan blade on the top of the pump shaft. IT is loose. They are pressed onto the shaft. The only thing you can do is replace the motor or the whole machine.

We have a built-in Kitchen Aid dishwasher

Put some kind of washer on the spindle to stop the up and down motion of spinner. Manual can be gotten at mfg web site or google search. For the residue I would use a sudsy ammonia cleaner or grease cutter. Or a baking soda paste .

I have a 25 year

The drain usually connects with a flexible plastic hose to the garbage disposal under your kitchen sink. Run the disposal for a minute to see if that unclogs anything.

Remove the hose and blow into it (use a straw and try to make a seal between hose and straw with your hand because old drain pipes taste really bad if you kiss them directly).

Otherwise, your pump may have gond bad - dishwashers do not drain on gravity alone. they all use pumps. Yours may not be worth replacing unless you are really handy and can do it yourself.

Pumps are available and located on the bottom of the unit. Disconnect drain hose. Disconnect circuit breaker. Remove panel by toe-kick and disconnect electical hard-wired connection. Disconnect water (under kitchen sink). Pull it out from under the counter. Order new pump, install and replace. Be careful with the electricity.

Good luck.

Third REquest: Kitchenaid KUDC101XWH drain light will not not go off

You may make as many requests as you would like, but maybe no one on Fixya knows the answer. Another choice is to type "Kitchenaid Dishwasher dealer" or "Kitchenaid dishwasher repair" into you computer search engine and you will find lists of businesses that might be able to help you, usually by phone, but maybe by e-mail. God bless your efforts.
