Many LARGER/OLDER/NEWER drives are cranked out SO quickly (larger and larger in GB) that they became almost "experimental"! Also a NUMBER of mfg CHEAT by *super compressing files* as MUCH as possible ~ to CLAIM more drive space than there actually is. I KNOW! This is PART of the reason and need for LARGE hard drive BUFFER Memories (to assist in decompression)! MOST compressed files NEED to be 100% OK to deliver the original info back... a few clobbered chunks/blocks and sometimes BITS of data are enough to generate error reports'... and sometimes never able to recover your original data!
