The arm to the float
Look under the stool for the water valve coming out of the wall and turn it clockwise till it stops turning. This will turn the water off. Flush the stool and get all the water out of the tank as possible.
Look where the water hose goes to the bottom of the stool tank. You will have to take the hose loose with a pair off big water pump pliers or crescent wrench.
After taking the hose loose from the stool, there will be a big nut just above where you took the hose off the tank. You will have to look under the tank to see this nut. Use the same wrench to take this nut loose. You may have to hold on to the old valve.
Once you get this nut off, the valve will be loose from the tank, and you will have a little water leak out of the tank which you can catch with a big towel.
You should be home free from here. Put the new one back in reverse order.
Occasionally after flushing ,water continues to
Make sure the flush valve is closing properly and that the water level is not set too high causing water to enter the overflow tube. If the flapper seat is damaged and cannot just be be cleaned, you can add a new seat right over the old one. Fluidmaster sells them for just a few dollars. Most hardware stores have them - Home Depot and Lowes stock them.
Water keeps leaking into the
The toilet tank valve needs adjusting for a lower water level in the tank; or the valve is faulty and needs replacing. I can't tell you how to adjust it without knowing what type you have. Many of them have a screw in the very top which when turned will change the tank water level at which the valve shuts off the water.

Got a 1980's eljer toilet tank top no.5540 that
You need a heavy-bodies substance to fill the hole.
I have no idea if you can make this repair titanic-proof against leaks
Putty-stick-type epoxy from hardware or home center: Knead two parts together and apply in as many applications needed until hole is filled.
Auto-body filler? Fiberglass? Shoe goo? Ordinary caulk? Silicone caulk? Construction adhesive.
Nothing is going to be waterproof, so if a flood is likely, I would buy replacement product.
I need to find the gasget for the eljer onepiece
Did you ever find the answer to your problem? If so please share..Mine is doing the same thing. I have figured out where the leak is, but not why. The water level in the tank is too high and so it is running out the rim wash. When enough runs out there will be a phantom flush, the tank will again be (too) full, and the whole process starts again. I have all new fill valve, cup and counterweight with tank fill and rim wash tubes, and even the float assembly. I have adjusted every way I know without success. Any help anyone? Please? And, I might mention that I had success for some years with one of the general fills sold at the box store, but the 2nd one I bought did not work, so I paid nearly $100 to buy "will fit" replacement parts that came with NO directions. :(
Eljer flush valve is leaking how can fix?
There is a large slotted screw in the center of the flush valve. Use the biggest straight bladed screwdriver you have with nice sharp edges to loosen if not remove screw. Once you get it loose at least you will be able to tilt it out at an angle. that's how I got mine out. now all I have to do is find a new one!!!
Toilet is constantly running into bowl..have
Change your Ball ****...(Water inlet Device)
You can also make sure that the water level is not set too high in the tank and overflowing into the overflow tube...if it is try to readjust the float to seal the water from getting into the tank. If you cannot readjust the float to stop the water from entering the tank then you must replace the Ball ****.

Crack in toilet water holding tank
If this crack wasn't caused by you, and it was a factory defect.
I think you should call a plumber and have him replace it,
and get you a new toilet for free from the wholesaler. But
of course you will need to pay the labor of the plumber.
All my best to you

The water kept running after finished flushing and
Hi,
Either you did not get the right flapper or you have a crack that is letting the water through even though the flapper is sealed...
Cracks can be very hard to identify, but if the flapper is sealing good then that's your problem...
