The trim ring news to be ta]ed in place with a plastic-face mallet. This type of mallet does not (if used properly) Mar the surface it striks.
Hold the trim ring in place while tapping it in place. It often takes patience to get it right.
The ring is properly in place when there is no place where you can insert a fingernail between it and the mixer body all around the ring.
Hi GMVLAHOS.Sorry to hear about your difficulties with removing your mixing blades. By the description of the symptoms, I think that the ‘groove pin’ (the pin sticking out from the agitator shaft that locks your blade onto the shaft) has loosened and shifted out or bent (or both) and this may be the cause of your difficulty in removing your mixing tools. The ‘groove’ pin is supposed to be tightly fitted to the agitator shaft but it is possible, over time and use, that it has loosened and shifted or bent to the point that the mixing blades ‘appear’ to be stuck and doesn’t come off easily. A quick inspection of the agitator shaft as well as the blade attachment wells can confirm the diagnosis. Inspect the opposite side of the groove pin hole on the agitator shaft. The end of the groove pin should be flush (or very nearly flush) with exterior of the agitator shaft. If there is a significant space then the groove pin has started to come free from the agitator shaft. The groove pin will still remain in place but the clearances between the pin and the blades may be reduced to zero, making the blades ‘stick’ when you try to remove them. Also check the blade and see if there might be some additional scouring inside the attachment well where the groove pin contacts the blade when you mount or remove the blade. How can you fix this? If you are DITY type person and feel adventurous, and if the groove pin does not look bent then a couple of light blows with a small hammer and punch should drive the pin back home tight. If the pin looks bent, then you would need to replace it. To remove the groove pin, you’ll need a small diameter punch (smaller than the diameter of the groove pin) to drive the pin from the agitator shaft. You will need the Parts List manual on hand. If you're lacking one, you can download one from the KA website at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home. Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides>Enter the 6 character model number, in your case use K45SSW select Parts List (1), K45SSWH0.pdf (341.41 KB), and then check to see it this matches your mixer model. Turn to pages 4 & 5, titled: Case, Gearing And Planetary Unit for the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer, along with all the parts.Locate Illus. No. 21, Groove pin in Illus No. 26, Agitator Shaft Assembly. The groove pin is what needs to be replaced. Here are four potential vendors in no particular order: RepairClinic.com; mendingshed.com; searspartsdirect.com; and partstore.com. Prices can vary widely between vendors, so do your comparison shopping. Finally, here are some links to several excellent websites that detail the disassembling/reassembly of a KA Mixer.
Between these three websites and their excellent pictures and descriptions and your Parts List manual, you should now be able to completely disassemble and reassemble your mixer, should you decide to go that route. If you feel this repair is beyond your capability, then I would seek out a local small appliance repair shop in your area. KA Customer Care can give you names of local KA authorized repair shops in your area, but you can also do an online search to supplement what KA may provide you. Call to explain your circumstances and find out their hourly rate and get an estimate of what they think it would cost to repair your mixer. Also, always obtain three or more estimates – do some comparison shopping.I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA If this solution was helpful, please rate it, thanks! – hslincoln
Food grade grease is what Kitchen Aid put into the gearbox originally. They do supply it as a spare part if you cannot find it as a non Kitchen Aid part.
Mine is stuck too and it's so annoying. I used terry cloth and hammer the bowl to knock the bowl down (1-2 times and not too hard). I think the bowl is up a bit and over locked when doing bread dough.
I had this same problem as well. The beater was stuck like glue to the rotating arm, and it would not budge with any amount of pressure. I tried the cooking spray and it did nothing. But today I put a rag in hot/boiling water and then carefully wrapped it around the top of the beater. I let it sit for 10 minutes. Then I put the rag in hot water again and repeated the process for about another 5 minutes. When this was done, I covered the beater in a towel (to protect it) and forcefully tapped (ok... I pounded) it with the flat side of my meat tenderizer (it was all I had...you could use a mallet or hammer). It took a little bit of work because I had to hammer it from the bottom, then the side, then the top to get the little spoke guided through the shaft. But it did finally come off. After cleaning with hot water, I put the beater on again and noticed that it was still a little hard to get on/off. So, I put a little bit of veg. oil on it, and it seems to be better. Going forward, I will be sure to clean the top of the beater & arm after each use and then coat it with a little oil to keep from sticking. Best of luck!

Adjust the head height, tilt the head back and look into the hinge area from the front over the top of the bowl. Undo that slottedscrew you can see in the middle of the hinge a quarter turn at a time until it stops scraping.
There is a problem in the planetary, there is wear or lack of lubrication causing wear in something in that area. Replacing the planetary is not a big or expensive job.
Hiya,
I am sorry to hear you are having an issue with your machine! To solve this problem, you will need to remove the drip ring from your mixer and give it a good clean, this should stop the grease leaking.
I hope this helps you! :)
Pull the back off and there will be two screws at the top of the Speed Control Plate and a 3rd screw at the bottom. Tighten the top two screws down. [email protected]. Let me know if it works.
