Microwave starts beeping and then locks up. We

You have a shorting membrane keypad.

NOTE: If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or at least leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

On this model (
KHMS155LSS3), the membrane keypad comes on the complete control panel frame assembly.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

It is part number 8205018 and you can get it from the Pros here for $108.80.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

Some connectors on the relays may have a lock:

Keeps beeping shows F2

F2 means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

On these models, the membrane keypad is not available separately, so you'd have to order and replace the control panel frame, which comes with a new keypad already installed.

This is a simple do it yourself job.

The key pad is locked and it won't stop beeping.

Try unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in again. This is easy to try and sometimes works with malfunctioning electronic devices. I've had good results using this technique with my GE microwave and Westinghouse LCD TV to name a few.

No power to microwave

There is usually a 125V, 20 AMP line fuse inside the microwave. Its usually mounted at the point where the power cord enters the back of the unit. Unfortunately, you will need to uninstall the oven (if this is an over the range model), UNPLUG it and remove the exterior case to access. The case comes off in various ways depending on manufacture and model. I found this illustration at pcappliancerepair.com based on the model number you listed this question under:

http://pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php

The line fuse is listed as item 28 in the drawing. Keep in mind, there are also a couple of thermostats listed that may also cause no power problems if blown.

One is listed as item 29 (part number 8183703) under the same drawing. The other is listed under the "Airflow" section as item 5 (part number 8183697). The humdity sensor can also be a source of problems when it becomes old. If you managed to overheat the oven any time recently, you may want to check these thermostats and sensors to see if they are still good. They should read 0 ohms when measured out of the circuit.

If the line fuse is blown, you can usually purchase a box of fuses at a hardware store for just a little more than what the manufacturer charges for a single fuse. 125V, 20AMP Ceramic Slow Blow fuses are recommended. If you wish to order on line, use the part numbers to search by comparison as the model number you listed this question under may not be available at all the websites I have provided. The parts, however, ARE listed.

If you have any questions, or need additional assistance troubleshooting, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: Make sure you take any resistance readings with the microwave UNPLUGGED and the component under test isolated (removed) from the circuit. These ovens can blow a fuse by simply sitting idle. This can occur from any power fluctuations, brown outs, voltage spikes, etc. Or, it could be the symptom of a component that may have failed. If you find the internal fuse blown and replace it, only to have it blow again, you have a more significant problem than a simple blown fuse.

Need installation instructions for replacing door

Remov fan cover, bottom plate, you can either do it right and pull out the entire plastic baffle to reveal the hindge bolts or you can just jam something between just enough to get a long socket on a small socket wrench. You must replace the entire door. Trying to replace just handle is almost impossible.

Trying to replace the KHMS155LSS3 handle...

To replace the plastic handle on the KitchenAid KHMS155LSS-3 you pry open the door cover from the inside to release the upper tangs (~10). I used razor blades wedged between the tang point to hold them disengaged. Pull the front cover off the door starting from the handle end. Once the top edge is free, the bottom can be remover. See Pitcures.
Repeat the door cover removes with the handle attached from the front after you lift the tangs._828.jpg_829.jpg_830.jpg_831.jpg

The white rectangle on the top of the inside of

The waves won't be spread like they should, with the area right below the hole getting way more energy than the rest of the food. The new part will be around $22. I had to break the old part in getting it off. The new part will show you how it is attached and how to install it. The most substantial part goes in the back (the part that acts like a hinge), and the snap-in area goes in the front. It pops right in and the energy once again flows all over the microwave. I got the idea that the cover acted as a diffuser. Also, I was told the reason this happened is because whatever was being heated didn't have enough moisture in it, therefore it was as if the microwave were being run with nothing in it, and the wave were directed back to the cover instead of being absorbed. I was instructed to next time put a cup of water in with whatever I was heating at the time of the problem.

Microwave stopped working with no warning. They

Just had my Kitchen Aid Microwave KHMS155LSS burn up and bellow smoke.

Thankfully, I was close by, stopped the microwave, vented the smoke, turned off the circuit breaker and unplugged it. Still the smell of burned motor, burned plastic has me concerned. Did it get hot enough to cause problems behind the drywall? So far, I am keeping a "fire watch" to make sure nothing is smoldering.
