I bought an Oster Golden A5 new in a pet store in 2000. It did not work reliably out of the box- needed constant tweaking of the blade tension screws. It sat on a shelf for 15 years while I paid for many grooming sessions. Over the years I would try to get it to work; in 2015, I bought a generic brand #5 blade from a beauty supply, and it refuses to cut no matter what I do. Today, I spent 40 bucks on an Andis #10 and low and behold it cuts like a dream. Went back to the store and bought a #5 FC and it also cuts like a dream. So all my troubles were caused by 2 blades that were defective right out of the box...

See if the hair is clogging somewhere, do you have user guide? Try clippers for dogs or go to the groomers.

It is common to that a Blade Sharpening Service return your blades just as blunt as before, or even worse.
I advise that you try a new Blade Sharpening Service; trying out only a couple blades to begin with.
I recommend a mobile/on-site sharpening service.

Its possible the gear wheel which is located under the name plate has slipped, if you remove the plate, lever and drive link the gear will pull off.
Inspect the teeth on the gear if there are signs of damage or slipping this is likely to be the problem.

ok if the brass inserts are allowing the hinge to move away from the clipper this will obviously cause a few problems, you will need to replace the body housing (new housing comes with a different design) you can view the clipper parts here

I'm sorry if this sounds academic, but regardless of whether or not the problem lies with the clipper or the blade set itself, since it is brand new, return it to the seller.

My best advise is to send your A5 Clipper to a professional service center or repair dealer. Because you are dealing with electricity caution is need when repairing.
