I have an idea, forget the math, put a stick in Mark the level, and then drain out one gallon and mark the level again.

The way that pH levels work is that a low number is bad, equal to 7 is neutral and more than 7 is good.

If so, I suggest you ask the person who gave you the clock as a gift if they still have the sales receipt for it. I believe you will need to have proof of purchase in order to have the missing temperature sensor replaced under the warranty for the clock.
