Whirlpool tub, jets come on and won't shut off. No water in tub.

Is it a jetted tub, or a air bath tub with holes or jets in the floor? If it has holes or jets in the floor, the control box is bad and needs replaced. If it is a jetted tub, there may be a water level sensor, if so the sensor may be bad causing the tub to turn on.

Power switch for whirlpool tub

the easiest thing (maybe) is to install an air switch kit on the side of your tub. Here is a link to the part. Basically you install an air button on the side of the tub, install the air tubing from the nipple on the underside of the air button to the nipple on the box that plugs into an outlet under the tub. The pump plugs into that same box and the air tubing from the air button pushing onto the nipple on the box. When you push the button on the tub it will turn the pump on/off. Air Switch Kit

My Royal bath tub leaves residue each time I use

There are several options for cleaning the piping on a jetted bathtub. The reason you have a residue on the bathtub surface when you are done bathing is because there is bacteria built up in the plumbing of the jetted tub. In order to remove that and reduce the amount of "yucky stuff" coming into the tub when using it, we recommend a regular usage of a jet cleaning product about once every couple of months Here is a link to the cleaning products I can find right now. There may be other out there that I am not aware of but I do know these products work well in all jetted bathtubs. US Parts Center

I am installing a Jacuzzi

This is a code based issue, and you MUST, MUST have a GFCI (Ground fault circuit interrupter) The tub should have the capacity specified on its box, somewhere. This job requires a permit in most areas, and serious liability exposure is present, and your insurance may not cover, without permits and inspections....

My Whirlpool ciello only has

You can go to any metal part of the tub or electrical part (motor - valve - connection) and fasten a ground wire to that part using a nut and bolt or screw. I would suggest you use a screw that is already on the motor. Run the ground wire to a known good ground. The ground doesn't necessarily have to be the electrical outlet (a cold water piper, for example). There is that possibility that there is nothing metal that you will find exposed. That makes it a little tougher. If this tub came this way from the manufacturer (two prong plug), it is probably exempt from the grounding requirement. I would suspect that the manufacturer wants you to plug this device into a GFI. You can get a GFI at any store that sells electrical parts. A separate ground is NOT required for full protection when using a GFI. All consumer grade GFI (they look like a regular, rectangular outlet) come ready to accept a three prong plug and there will be a place to fasten your house wire ground to the device. As I said, the ground it not a requirement for correct and complete function of the device. If you don't have a GFI available where you are connecting the plug, change it or get a qualified electrician to change it for you. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PLUG THIS DEVICE INTO A STANDARD OUTLET . Use it only on a GFI protected circuit. The outlet you are considering may already be protected by a GFI breaker. You can only prove this by finding the breaker, turning it off and checking the outlet in question. If it is a GFI breaker, it will look different from the others - and have a test button on it. If you are unsure, replace it with a new GFI breaker. I suppose I should also say here that you should check with yout town building inspector as to the requirements before you proceed, so you will meet any local code requirements. If you live in North America, I am certain the GFI is a requirement for this installation, as the National Electrical Code requires it, (Canada and USA).

I need to know if I can replace our jacuzzi air

depends on if you can get to the air button body. if you can get to it without removing the tile then you can change the button. Sounds to me like you might need to remove the tile to get to the button body because the button body is threaded with a nut threaded onto it to hold the body in place.

I first would test the on/off switch.
Disconnect the wiring. If the tub shuts off, that would be a sure sign.
You can test it while disconnected by using an ohmmeter on the ohm setting, place a probe on each wire connector on the switch. Should have a good reading with the switch on and no reading with the switch off.

This is known as the purge cycle, it is very normal. It is to blow out any remaining water from the air jets. If it was to allow water to stand in the pipes, it would start to smell and grow algae, which would then clog the small air holes, nothing to be alarmed about.
