what you need to do to correct this problem is that you will have to reprogram the timing by resetting the time program on it by clicking on the setting button and type in the new timer with this the problem is solve

Hi,

I have the GE JVM1490 Profile Spacemaker. Dr. Ripken's solution works for this oven. You need to remove the front vents, and lift up the plate covering the fan. The bulb housing is bright stainless steel and hinges up and out. The bulb part is the same as the underneath bulb. Unplug the oven before you replace the bulb or you can fry yourself or the control board. nuff said. P.S. I called GE and they said this had to be done by a tech. I guess they are scared of getting sued. -1 for them.

First and foremost, unplug the oven or disconnect it from the AC supply. Failure to do so can damage you or your microwave.

On some models, there is an access panel in the rear or inside the cavity (cooking chamber) held in place with a screw. Apparently yours does not have either of these.

For other models, you do have to remove the outer wrapper / cover.
Quoting my own text "doorsw.txt", here's how:

Remove all of the screws from the side and back of the outer wrapper / cover of the microwave. There are usually four on the rear edges and two on the bottom of the edges on each side of the cover.

The cover then should be slid slightly backward then up from the rear and it will slide off.

You may have to pat down on the sides to loosen it first. I use firm and simultaneous open-palmed slaps on both sides near the front, then pull it up and off.

When putting it back on, be careful that the inside front edges of the cover catch properly in the slots in the chassis.

Once the cover is off, be careful of sharp edges on the metal inside.

Also, do not come into contact with any exposed connections or wiring, since there may possibly be a charge remaining in the high-voltage capacitor.

A zap from this charge can be painful, and it can cause you to hurt yourself on those sharp edges when the old reflexes move you abruptly!

NOTE: To answer your intial question, YES you can still use the microwave oven, but it is recommended that you stop the oven about midway through the cooking process and rotate your food to ensure it is heated evenly. Early model microwave ovens did not have a rotating carousel and it was often listed in the cooking directions to rotate your food this way.

Hello :

This happens because of a bad door switch . The plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door .

Check also the turntable . It could be out of it's right place .

WARNING :

1:Don't slam your microwave door because this may cause the fuse to blow and this is the reason of bad door switch problem .
2: A microwave is capable of giving you a serious electrical shock even when it's unplugged , so I recommend you to call a repair technician for help .

remove the bottom of micro and filters / with a light look up wher the filter 's are on both sides and you will find a lever that when your pull it .. it will relace from back plate. make sure someone is holding it at this time so it will not fall on range below . ****

normally you look for the clock ot watch icon. Pressing it once will give you the option for 24 hours setting. Press it twice and it will give you the opportunity to set to 12 hours setting. Using the no. keypad, punch in the time and then repress the clock icon again.
